IU basketball recruiting: Hoosiers offer 2026 guard Bryson Howard

Indiana offered one of the top spring risers in the class of 2026 on Thursday.

Texas-based shooting guard Bryson Howard announced an offer from the IU staff on his social media pages.

He attends Heritage H.S. in Frisco, Texas.

The 6-foot-4 Howard is currently ranked No. 60 overall at 247Sports and a 4-star after their recent rankings update.  He’s expected to move up the rankings at all of the national outlets in the weeks to come.

Playing for Pro Skills this spring on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Howard is averaging 20.9 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 52.8% overall including 45.5% from three (on 55 attempts).

Howard is the son of former Wake Forest star and longtime NBA player Josh Howard.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Adam Finkelstein wrote this assessment of Howard this week and posted it on his bio page:

“Howard is an athletic southpaw wing with good positional size, a high-motor, and terrific frame that is undoubtedly going to continue filling out. He attacks the rim, getting downhill in the open court and playing through contact. He rises up to finish and is a lob threat. He also has a translatable shooting stroke and has even shown some flashes of being able to make movement shots. Defensively, he’s engaged and excels with his court coverage. There’s still room for him to clean up some of his angles, but he has a world of potential both on and off the ball.”

Howard already has offers from two schools where new IU assistants have come from — Tennessee and Georgetown.  He named IU assistants Rod Clark and Kenny Johnson in his post announcing the IU offer. Howard also claims offers from SMU, Oklahoma, Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Missouri, Texas and Houston.
