IU basketball recruiting: Hoosiers offer 2022 4-star forward Kaleb Banks

New Indiana assistant coach Yasir Rosemond hit the ground running on Friday with a pair of offers to class of 2022 prospects based in the Southeast.

The first we’ll take a quick look at is top-100 forward Kaleb Banks.

The 6-foot-8 Banks announced an offer from IU and Rosemond on his Twitter page.

Hailing from Fayetteville, Ga., Banks plays school ball for Fayette County.  As a junior there he averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 63 percent from the field overall including 38 percent from behind the arc on 105 attempts.  He led Fayette to the Class 4A state finals in March.

On the court Banks plays both inside and out and seems well suited for the stretch-four role at the next level.  On film he appears to be a legitimate combo forward with respectable ball handling and shooting skills, but with the length to hold his own at the four.  Already at 215 pounds with a 7-foot-2 wingspan and an above average athlete, Banks looks like a good fit for head coach Mike Woodson’s desired four-out, one-in offensive approach.

For AAU basketball Banks plays for the Atlanta Celtics on the Adidas circuit, and he trained with Rosemond in Atlanta before the new IU assistant moved to Bloomington.

Banks currently has high major offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Xavier.  He recently told 247Sports that he would like to make a college decision this summer.

Banks is currently ranked No. 91 overall in the class of 2022, and the No. 16 power forward.
