One of Indiana’s top 2022 guard targets is narrowing things down.

Poca, W.V. based top-60 combo guard Isaac McKneely announced his top eight schools on Sunday.

Making the announcement on his Twitter page, McKneely included Indiana in his list of top schools.

Joining Indiana in McKneely’s top eight are Kentucky, North Carolina, West Virginia, Louisville, Illinois, Purdue, and Virginia.

McKneely told 247Sports on Sunday that Indiana is a great fit.

“The style of play is a great fit for me,” McKneely said.  “I’ve been building a great relationship with several of the coaches since the spring. I got to a game last year, and the Hoosier fan base and the atmosphere of Assembly Hall are amazing.”

McKneely took an unofficial visit to Bloomington in December in connection with the basketball game against Arkansas.

From there, McKneely has had a regular dialogue with Archie Miller and the IU coaching staff as the Hoosiers continue to make him a priority.

McKneely averaged 22 points per game as a high school sophomore, and he converted on 45-percent of his 3-point attempts. He added 4 rebounds and 3 assists per contest.  The West Virginia 2020-21 high school season has been delayed until at least January due to COVID-19.

The Poca H.S. product helped lead the Dots to 21-3 record. Poca was ranked No. 6 in its class when the 2019-20 season was suspended on the night the Class AA regionals were scheduled.

Best thought of as a combo guard, McKneely is a lethal perimeter shooter, but he also has the ball handling skills to get past his man on the bounce, and the athleticism to finish at the rim.

For AAU McKneely plays for the Pittsburgh based Wildcat Select (Adidas) program.

The 6-foot-4 McKneely is currently the No. 57 player in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 7 combo guard nationally and the No. 1 player in West Virginia according to that same service.

You can watch summer highlights of McKneely below as well as a recent interview where he discusses his recruitment and much more.
