IU basketball recruiting: Class of 2022 names to know — forward Braeden Moore

There is a growing sentiment that shooting has to become a higher priority on the recruiting trail for Indiana.

An emerging talent in Tennessee might fit the mold of the type of player Indiana’s coaching staff needs to prioritize going forward to bring an end to the shooting woes in Bloomington.

6-foot-8, 210-pound forward Braeden Moore has become a hot prospect in recent months with high major offers rolling in.  Indiana’s involvement goes back to the summer when Jake Lieberman and Courtney Asher Smith first reported contact, and he has routinely mentioned the Hoosiers as a school staying in touch since.

A junior at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville, Moore has opened eyes nationally as a modern forward that can be impactful both inside and out.  Moore is averaging 20.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest this season.  With a game that has a European feel, perhaps most impressive is that Moore has made 51 3-pointers in 16 games, converting at a 38 percent rate from behind the arc.  He gets the ball out of his hands quick and strokes it from deep with confidence.

Moore’s recent waive of offers has included Arkansas, Auburn, Georgetown, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas, Memphis, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee and St. John’s.  Those schools joined Arizona State, Boston College, Rutgers, SMU, and TCU.

Moore, who plays for Team Thad on the Nike EYBL, is not currently ranked according to the 247Sports Composite.  But as is often the case, the ranking services will follow what all of these high major programs have already discovered.

Indiana has already offered 2022 forwards with perimeter skills including Justin Taylor, Tyler Nickel and Alex Karaban.  It will be interesting to see if the Hoosiers jump in on Moore as well.
