It is no secret that Indiana would like to add at least one guard to their 2021 class.
The Hoosiers have several top forward prospects still on the 2021 board, but it is less clear who they are tracking in the backcourt.
One name that has emerged recently is senior combo guard Shane Dezonie.
The 6-foot-4 and 190 pound Dezonie is from Pennsylvania, and he started high school at Hudson Catholic in New Jersey before moving on to Huntington Prep in West Virginia. He is now at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire for his senior season. He was teammates with class of 2022 IU offer recipient Zion Cruz while at Hudson Catholic.
Dezonie’s high school coach recently indicated that Indiana was showing interest, and Dezonie himself has also mentioned IU’s involvement recently.
A well put together guard with primary ball handling abilities, Dezonie plays both ends of the floor with a gritty style. He describes himself as a three-level scorer that takes pride in defense.
For AAU Dezonie plays with the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Dezonie is currently ranked No. 86 nationally according to the 247Sports Composite. He appears to be on more of a spring timeline according to his comments in multiple reports. Dezonie has not taken any official visits, which has complicated his process.
Some of the other top schools that have been involved include Arizona State, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Clemson, Kansas State, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Auburn.
