NOTES ON SUIGO’S GAME
Although he’s 7-foot-3, Suigo’s offensive game is in the mold of the modern European big man. He plays facing the basket, he’s a capable if not yet elite shooter from beyond the arc, and has the footwork to make shots off the bounce via step-backs and fakes. Among recent Indiana big men, Kel’el Ware comes to mind, although Suigo is not that athletic at this stage. Most of Suigo’s scoring at the rim will come via lobs and put-backs. He’s effective scoring there with either hand.
Suigo runs the floor well and he’s reasonably coordinated and agile. He shows good instincts when it comes to rolling to the basket and popping off screens for shots.
On the defensive end Suigo has a sturdy base that should allow him to defend the block. And his length allows him to be an effective rim protector even though he’s not an elite athlete. Playing in Europe, Suigo has learned how to hold his own defending away from the paint.
