IU basketball recruiting: 2026 center Luigi Suigo official visit primer

Indiana welcomes class of 2026 4-star center Luigi Suigo to Bloomington Tuesday for a multi-day official visit.

Below is a comprehensive look at Suigo, with everything you need to know as he arrives on campus.

    ESSENTIALS

    Status —  OFFERED (June, 2025)

    -Class – 2026
    -Hometown – Italy
    -School/Club – Olimpia Milano
    -Position – Center
    -Height – 7-foot-3 (9-foot-6 standing reach, 7-foot-5 wingspan)
    -Weight – 240
    -Average Ranking – 4-star
-Primary Competition – Kentucky, Illinois, Purdue, BYU, Louisville, and Texas A&M

Other visits — Suigo has visited Illinois, Purdue and now Indiana thus far.

Timeline — Suigo turned 18 in January and could reclassify to 2025, although there is no indication at this point that’s his plan.  The timeline for him to conclude his class of 2026 recruitment is not clear.

Numbers — This season in the Adidas NextGen Euro League, Suigo averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 25/34 from the floor.

    NOTES ON SUIGO’S GAME

Although he’s 7-foot-3, Suigo’s offensive game is in the mold of the modern European big man.  He plays facing the basket, he’s a capable if not yet elite shooter from beyond the arc, and has the footwork to make shots off the bounce via step-backs and fakes.  Among recent Indiana big men, Kel’el Ware comes to mind, although Suigo is not that athletic at this stage.  Most of Suigo’s scoring at the rim will come via lobs and put-backs.  He’s effective scoring there with either hand.

Suigo runs the floor well and he’s reasonably coordinated and agile.  He shows good instincts when it comes to rolling to the basket and popping off screens for shots.

On the defensive end Suigo has a sturdy base that should allow him to defend the block.  And his length allows him to be an effective rim protector even though he’s not an elite athlete.  Playing in Europe, Suigo has learned how to hold his own defending away from the paint.
