It was a carbon copy of how Indiana played in Puerto Rico.
The Hoosiers fell behind by 13 in the first half against Baylor in Indianapolis on Sunday, only to come storming back.
The Bears led 31-18 with 7:42 left in the first half at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, only to see Indiana surge to a 64-55 second half advantage with 8:24 left in the game.
From there IU held on, as Tucker DeVries hit a midrange baseline jumper with 45 seconds left to give IU a 74-73 lead, and Tayton Conerway beat his man off the dribble and hit a layup with eight seconds remaining for what turned out to be the game winner.
Indiana won 76-74 as Baylor missed a three at the buzzer.
Lamar Wilkerson led IU with 28 points, including a 13 of 13 effort at the free throw line. DeVries had 18 and Conerway had 15.
The Hoosiers didn’t shoot the three ball well, making just 6 of 24 from deep. But led by Wilkerson, IU was 20 of 21 from the free throw line and they turned it over just nine times. That helped offset a 44-25 rebounding advantage for Baylor.
Helping to fuel the rally, IU held Baylor to just 29% shooting from the field in the second half, to go with seven turnovers by the Bears.
IU followed a pattern set during their summer trip to Puerto Rico, when the Hoosiers overcame two massive early deficits and rallied to pull out wins in August against Serbian professional team Mega Superbet.
