IU basketball offers 2025 top-20 guard Joson Sanon, a candidate to reclassify to 2024

Indiana has offered consensus national top-20 class of 2025 prospect Joson Sanon.

Sanon announced the offer on his Twitter page on Thursday.

According to the On3 Industry Average, Sanon is the No. 12 overall player in the 2025 class and the No. 5 shooting guard.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is from Fall River, Mass. and attends Vermont Academy.  He plays for Expressions Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit and averaged 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, in 26 minutes per game at the 17u level at the 2023 Peach Jam.

This is not new involvement by Indiana.  The Hoosiers have been mentioned in connection with him going back to at least the spring.

Here’s where things potentially get very interesting with Sanon:  National recruiting outlets 247Sports and On3 have both mentioned him in the last month as good candidate to reclassify to the class of 2024.

According to Adam Finkelstein of 247Sports, Sonon is currently in his fourth year of high school, so 2024 is his natural class.  And he has a December birthday, so he isn’t young for the 2024 class.

After missing out on Boogie Fland, Indiana would obviously like to add a guard in the current high school senior class.

This is how On3 describes Sanon’s game on his profile page at that outlet:

“Joson Sanon has a basketball player’s frame, with long arms and wide-set shoulders. His pace is excellent, Sanon is never rushed with the ball. At 6-6, he has a pure jump shot with range beyond the arc. He is comfortable shooting off the bounce or the catch, keeping his mechanics consistent throughout. Sanon is a good athlete with explosion and burst. He has the upside to be a good defender, both on and off the ball. Sanon has a solid handle, comfortable getting to the midrange off one and two dribbles. Sanon is tracking among the top in his class.”

Sanon is in the middle of a wave of official visits that will run through the end of the year and includes Alabama, Oklahoma State, Arizona, LSU and Kansas.
