BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana lost to Michigan at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 70-67.

Michigan led at halftime 43-27.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Malik Reneau with 16 points.  Mackenzie Mgbako added 15.

The three keys to the game, highlights and final stats are below.

Indiana (14-10, 5-8) travels to Michigan State on Tuesday evening.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Too much of a first half hole.  Indiana was behind by 16 at halftime.  And despite a massive second half surge that saw them pull into a 59-all tie, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.  IU shot just 35.3% in the first half while Michigan shot 51.9%.  Following a trend of struggling early in games, the Hoosiers were down by 11 less than five minutes in, and trailed by as much as 18 before the break.

    2. Michigan’s bigs a tough matchup. Wolverine 7-footers Danny Wolf and Vlad Goldin are a challenging cover for most teams, and IU was no exception.  The pair combined for 38 points on 12-of-21 shooting, with 17 rebounds.  Wolf and Goldin had 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the second half.  They were particularly a problem at the free throw line, where they combined to make 13-of-14 for the game.

    3. Rice and Ballo no shows.  Indiana starters Myles Rice and Oumar Ballo both had disappointing afternoons.  Rice was 1-of-6 from the field and didn’t play in the second half.  Ballo played just 20 minutes and scored six points and grabbed four rebounds.  In their places, Anthony Leal, Mackenzie Mgbako and Trey Galloway all played 20 minutes in the second half as the Hoosiers rallied.
