THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. First half threes. Indiana was 14 of 26 from beyond the arc in the first half. That was more threes than any IU team had made in a full game going back to 2018. Things got weird in the second half, as Indiana missed 17 straight from long range at one point. Indiana could have chosen to dominate the undersized Cougars inside, but they kept running their offense and shooting from deep. IU set a new program record with 46 attempts from beyond the arc — nine more attempts than the previous mark (39 vs. Temple in 2004).
2. The ball moves. Improved ball security. Indiana assisted on all but two of their makes from the field (24 of 26). And after a 17 turnover game at Kentucky, the Hoosiers had just five turnovers in the first half before things got a little sloppy in the final ten minutes. Starting guard Lamar Wilkerson and Conor Enright combined for 13 assists against just two turnovers.
3. Less fouling. After dealing with foul trouble in several games this season, Indiana only committed 10 fouls for the game, tying a season low. Foul trouble was never an issue in this one, as none of the main rotation players had more than two. Indiana has has six games of 20 or more fouls, and they were well under their team average of 18.9 fouls per game. Chicago State only attempted six free throws for the entire game.
