LEXINGTON — Indiana lost to Kentucky at Rupp Arena Saturday evening by a final score of 72-60.

Three three keys to the game, highlights and final stats are below.

Indiana (8-3) led 39-32 at halftime.  They were led in the game by Lamar Wilkerson and Tucker DeVries with 15 points apiece.

The Hoosiers return to action next Saturday when they host Chicago State in Bloomington.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Inefficient offense fueled by turnovers.  Indiana struggled to get anything going on the offensive end, especially in the second half.  And they compounded a poor shooting night with turnovers.  The Hoosiers shot just 34.1% from the field with 18 turnovers for the game, including just 27.3% and 12 turnovers in the decisive second half.  IU was just 4 of 24 from three.  They only made 15 total shots from the field for the entire game.  The lone bright spot was the free throw line, where Indiana made 26 of 29.

    2. Fouls keep Wilkerson, others off the floor.  The Hoosiers played nearly the entire game in foul trouble.  Overall IU had 24 fouls.  Four players had at least four fouls and Tucker DeVries fouled out.  Lamar Wilkerson didn’t play most of the first 10 minutes of the second half, the period when Kentucky turned the game.  IU was up six when Wilkerson picked up his fourth foul with 17:58 left in the second half, and down one when he came back with 9:30 left.  By that point IU couldn’t flip the momentum back in their favor.

    3. Kentucky crashes the offensive glass.  Indiana outrebounded Kentucky overall for the game, but UK had 14 offensive rebounds and scored 18 second chance points.  Nine of those offensive rebounds came in the second half, and seven came in a less than three minute second half stretch, when a three-point IU lead turned into a three-point deficit at the 9:30 mark.
