CHICAGO, Ill. — Indiana defeated Marquette at United Center Sunday afternoon by a final score of 100-77.

The Hoosiers led 56-38 at the break.  They were led in the game by Tucker DeVries with 28 points.  Lamar Wilkerson added 23.

The three keys to the game, final stats and highlights are below.

Stay tuned to The Daily Hoosier for more coverage of the game.

Indiana returns to action on Wednesday when they host Milwaukee.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Tucker Takeover.  Tucker DeVries went over 2,000 points last week, and he put that number well into the rearview.  The redshirt senior had 24 first half points to help give the Hoosiers early separation, and he ended the game with 28.  DeVries picked up his fourth foul midway through the second half, and Lamar Wilkerson immediately stepped up — making a pair of threes to extend IU’s lead back beyond 20.  Wilkerson had 23 and the pair combined to make 12 of 19 shots from three.

    2. Handling the pressure.  Marquette’s reputation is pressure defense that creates turnovers, but Indiana handled the pressure all afternoon.  The Hoosiers had just eight turnovers for the game, and that was despite being forced to play with one of their starting guards on the bench for most of the game with foul trouble.  IU had 27 assists on 33 field goals, and shot 50% from the field.

    3. Navigating foul trouble.  The fouls starting mounting on IU from the opening tip and the Hoosiers played through foul trouble the entire game.  Conor Enright fouled out, and Tayton Conerway and Tucker DeVries each had four fouls.  It forced Indiana to adjust their rotation throughout the game — and the Hoosiers were already shorthanded due to four injured players.  Reed Bailey and Sam Alexis also had three fouls by early in the second half.
