IU basketball had four coaches on hand to watch 2024 5-star Flory Bidunga in state finals

Indiana’s actions suggest they believe they can land class of 2024 in-state 5-star center Flory Bidunga.

IU sent their entire coaching staff — head coach Mike Woodson and his three assistants — to watch Bidunga’s Class 4A State Finals game on Saturday evening in Indianapolis.

Even class of 2023 signee Gabe Cupps was there.  Cupps sat alongside Bidunga at multiple IU games this past season and seems particularly focused on helping the staff land the Kokomo H.S. big man.

Woodson’s wife and daughter were there too.

In every conceivable way, Indiana made a statement on Saturday — they’re all in on Bidunga.

The 6-foot-10 Bidunga is a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 player nationally in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

In the State Finals, Bidunga had 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting.  He grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots.

And of course, he had some highlight reel plays.

Ben Davis H.S. won the game, 53-41, and completed a perfect 33-0 season in the process.

Several other high major coaches were there to watch Bidunga — including Kentucky’s John Calipari, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo, Auburn’s Bruce Pearl, and Michigan’s Juwan Howard.

Those are just some of the schools involved, along with Purdue, Cincinnati, Florida, Kansas, Butler and others.

According to MaxPreps, Bidunga averaged 20.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 5.3 blocks per game this season while shooting 81% from the field.

Bidunga will next turn to another season of AAU basketball where he’s expected to run with the Indiana Elite program on the Adidas circuit.
