Indiana Game Notes (via Indiana Athletics)

    Series History

    • Indiana has defeated Chicago State in all four of the previous matchups between the two programs by an average margin of victory of 34.0 points. IU has averaged 97.8 points per game in the series that began in 2006.
    • The Hoosiers bested the Cougars by a score of 104-55 in their last meeting on Nov. 6, 2018, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in the collegiate debut of Romeo Langford. The 14th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft scored 19 points in the contest.
    • Indiana is 7-0 against Northeast Conference teams with wins over Chicago State (4), Central Connecticut (1), LIU Brooklyn (1), and St. Francis (1).

No. 350 Chicago State’s KenPom notable numbers:

    (out of 365 teams)

    Tempo – No. 182 (Offense No. 333 / Defense No. 12)

    Offensive Efficiency – No. 333

    • Chicago State has an effective field goal percentage of 43.3 percent (No. 356). The Cougars are shooting 29.7 percent from three (No. 297) and 42.8 percent on twos (No. 353).
    • CSU shoots well from the line at a 76.9 team percentage (No. 44). Free throws account for 23.1 percent of their points (No. 59).
    • They do have trouble taking care of the ball with a 19 percent turnover percentage (No. 269).

    Defensive Efficiency – No. 344

    • Teams have shot a 58.9 percent effective field goal percentage against Chicago State (No. 358). Opponents are shooting 35.8 percent from three (No. 273) and 64.9 percent from two (No. 364).
    • The Cougars best stat on defense is forcing turnovers, although their rate isn’t very high. They have a 18.5% forced turnover rate on the season (No. 126).
    • Offensive rebounds have been a problem for CSU. Teams are getting second chance opportunities at a 38.9 percent rate (No. 354). Their average roster height is around 6-foot-4.

    OG’s Pick

    Overall: 9-2

This should not be a problem for Indiana. Chicago State has shown some fight against some talented teams, but not enough to pick them for a major upset here. The Hoosiers could easily win this game by 25+, and they need to regain some of their offensive momentum.

    PICK: Indiana 98 – Chicago State 63
