Indiana’s solid start to the 2025-26 season has opened some eyes.
After receiving just one vote in the preseason AP top-25, the Hoosiers received 45 in the updated poll following the first week of college basketball. IU is effectively No. 28 based on the results of this week’s voting.
Under first year coach Darian DeVries, IU dominated their first two opponents. They beat Alabama A&M 98-51 to start the season, and then took care of Marquette 100-77 in Chicago on Sunday.
Six teams from the Big Ten are ranked this week: Purdue (2), Michigan (6), Illinois (14), UCLA (15), Michigan State (17) and Wisconsin (24). Also receiving votes from the league in addition to IU are Oregon, Ohio State, USC and Iowa.
Indiana plays two currently ranked teams during their nonconference slate: No. 9 Kentucky and No. 12 Louisville. Nonconference opponent Kansas State is receiving votes as well.
IU has also moved up considerably in the computer models after the first week. After starting the year No. 40 at KenPom, IU was No. 21 there on Monday morning.
Indiana returns to the court on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET when they host Milwaukee at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall (FS1). The Hoosiers will host Incarnate Word on Sunday.
