We’re firmly in list cut and official visit scheduling season for rising seniors.
And with the final live periods wrapping up this weekend, it’s time to take another look at where things stand with Indiana and their primary class of 2026 targets.
New IU basketball coach Darian DeVries and his staff have extended more than 20 offers in the class of 2026, and we’ve reported on all of them.
Here’s the latest on where things stand:
COMMITTED: Let’s get the easy one out of the way. Indiana has one commit in the 2026 class, and he is 4-star guard Prince-Alexander Moody. And Moody is now working hard to get others to join him. More on that in a minute.
IN DECISION MODE, MAYBE: All eyes are on 6-foot-8 national top-40 forward Latrell Allmond, who completed an official visit to IU last month. That is his lone visit thus far, and he’s close with the IU staff. Will he take more visits or shut things down before his planned October announcement? Indiana seems to be in a good position. We caught up with Allmond last week for the latest:

SCHEDULED VISITS:
Here are the 2026 players who currently have visits to IU on the books in the months to come:
- Tay Kinney, national top-20 point guard — Aug. 29-31 (See also: Kinney talks IU with TDH)
- Deron Rippey, national top-20 point guard — Oct. 17-19 (See also: Rippey talks IU with TDH)
IU isn’t a perceived leader in either case, but a visit gives them a chance.
LIKELY TO VISIT:
7-foot-1 center Ethan Taylor told 247Sports’ Brandon Jenkins earlier this week he’s planning to visit IU sometime after Peach Jam, which ends this weekend. He’s top-25 overall in the 2026 class and the No. 2 center. Indiana is a legit contender but will have to deal with Kansas, which is the home school in this case.
Meanwhile, Moody is having fun pushing his AAU teammate, 5-star guard Jordan Smith, Jr. to join him at IU.
“I’m trying to get him over there,” Moody told Zags Blog about his efforts with Smith. “I’m trying to. I’m going to get him over there hopefully. I’m going to try to because I need him or somebody like him. But ain’t nobody like him, I’m not going to lie. So it’s going to be hard to get someone like him, but I’m going to try to get him for sure.”
What is Moody telling Smith?
“It will change my life if I go,” Smith told Zags Blog is Moody’s message about IU. “He just said I got to take the visit and I’ll commit. That’s all he’s been saying to me.”
You have to admire the effort by Moody. Smith seems likely to visit, and if he does, IU rises to the level of legit contender. Getting any one of Smith, Kinney or Rippey at point guard would be a massive win.
MIGHT TAKE SOME TIME TO SORT OUT: Here’s an interesting one — Indiana will play AGAINST a recruiting target — 2026 7-foot-3 Italian center Luigi Suigo — in Puerto Rico next month. Suigo visited IU in June and has since signed with Serbian team Mega Superbet, who the Hoosiers face in San Juan. Suigo signed a contract to play with the Serbian club next year, which seems to shut down any speculation about a potential reclassification to 2025. He has visited Illinois, Purdue and IU thus far.
WAITING TO SEE IF THEY VISIT: Indiana has survived a few recent list cuts, making the group of finalists. In a few other instances players have said they plan to visit IU but haven’t announced any firm dates to this point. If visits happen in these cases our ears will perk up:
- Arafan Diane — No. 1 center in the class, told TDH last week he’s planning September visits, but isn’t saying where just yet. Indiana seems like a contender to host the 7-footer, but this one is murky at the moment.
- Anthony Thompson – No. 8 player in the class and a 5-star. He’s visited IU before, but will will the 6-foot-8 wing return for the new staff? A list cut and visit plans should be released very soon. Here’s what he told us last week.
- Davion Adkins — National top-40 player in the class. The 6-foot-8 forward told TDH last week he talks to IU regularly and they are one of the schools he is looking at for a visit. Let’s see what happens.
- Miikka Muurinen — Top-10 5-star in the class, included IU in his final seven. We’re looking for a visit from the 6-foot-11 forward before getting too heavily invested. Muurinen didn’t play AAU this year so he’s a bit off the radar.
- Cole Cloer –Top-30 4-star in the class who included IU in his final eight. Seems like it will be hard to pull the sharpshooting North Carolina product away from ACC country. Again, an IU visit will signal it’s time to start following this one more closely.
- Marcis Ponder — A top-75 center who put IU in his final seven this week. Yep, you guessed it — let’s see if he sets up a visit. Ponder hasn’t announced any visit plans to this point.
IU has a lot of lines in the water for centers. If they can land one of Taylor, Diane, Ponder or Suigo they’ll be doing very well.
RECENT OFFERS, TOO SOON TO KNOW: Indiana has very recently offered 2026 wings Aiden Derkack and Junior County.
NO FAVORABLE BUZZ AT THE MOMENT: We’re not hearing or seeing anything to suggest IU is a top contender for some of the other players they’ve offered in the class, like Caleb Gaskins, Toni Bryant, Bryson Howard and Cameron Williams.
MYSTERY MEN: These are names you see and hear connected to IU, but to this point it isn’t clear how hard IU is pushing and/or how much mutual interest exists. We’ll continue to monitor:
- Gavin Placide, 4-star forward, Colorado
- Gallagher Placide, 4-star forward, Colorado
- Najai Hines, 4-star center, New Jersey
- Harris Reynolds, 4-star guard, Georgia
- Dakari Spear, 4-star guard, Texas
- Dylan Mingo, 5-star guard, New York
OFF THE BOARD: Since our most recent comprehensive update, Trey Thompson came off the board with a commitment to Iowa.
