IU basketball coach Mike Woodson was available to the media in Minneapolis on Tuesday for Big Ten media day.

Here’s a couple notable things he said to the assembled media at the Target Center:

Indiana has had some minor bumps and bruises during their first couple weeks of practice, but thus far it doesn’t sound like anything serious.

Todd Golden of CNHI Indiana relayed that three players have missed practice time thus far.

Indiana coach Mike Woodson mentioned during one-on-one interviews that C Kel’El Ware (shoulder), F Anthony Walker (ankle) and F Kaleb Banks (groin) have all missed practice time so far. Woodson said none of the injuries are likely to keep any of the players out of games.

Ware was unable to participate in IU’s Pro Day in front of NBA personnel on Friday, but according to Tyler Tachman of the Des Moines Register, Woodson said Ware was back on the practice floor on Monday.

Woodson was also asked about the return of the series with Kentucky announced last week.  As he has stated many times, Woodson said he’s close with Wildcats head coach John Calipari, and gave him credit for his role in helping to revive the series.

When asked specifically why the four-game series with UK entails two trips to Lexington but only one to Bloomington, along with a game in Indianapolis, Woodson gave a direct answer.

“That was the only way I could get it done,” Woodson said.  “We’ll move forward probably after that last year, it being in Bloomington, to having it be in Rupp-Bloomington-Rupp-Bloomington, and just leave it that way.”

Maryland coach Kevin Willard was asked about IU transfer forward Jordan Geronimo is fitting within in his program.  Here’s what he said:

Geronimo will make a return trip to Bloomington for the Big Ten opener on Dec. 1.
