IU basketball availability report for Wisconsin includes four guards

Indiana has some key guards listed as questionable ahead of its Tuesday evening game in Madison.

Both Myles Rice and Kanaan Carlyle carry the questionable tag, while Jakai Newton and Gabe Cupps continue to be out.

Carlyle missed IU’s Friday evening game at Purdue with an illness.  He did not travel with the team to West Lafayette, but he has made the trip to Wisconsin and participated in the team’s shootaround at the Kohl Center.

Rice played at Purdue and did not suffer any injuries against the Boilermakers, so the reason for his questionable status is unknown.

Rice and Carlyle were Indiana’s season opening starting guards, but both have had their share of struggles with inconsistent play since transferring to the Hoosiers during the offseason.

A starter in all 22 games to this point, Rice is averaging 11.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 turnovers per contest while shooting 43.6% from the field overall, including 32.1% from three.

Carlyle was moved to a reserve role midseason.  He’s producing 4.6 points per game in 18.9 minutes.  He’s shooting 29.2% overall, and 22.4% from three.

Newton and Cupps have each only played in four games this year.  Cupps is not expected to return after having knee surgery, while Newton had dealt with a variety of ailments.

The Hoosiers can not afford to be shorthanded in Madison, a place they haven’t won since 1998.

Wisconsin does not list any players as questionable or out for tonight’s game.

Indiana and No. 21 Wisconsin tip at 9 p.m. ET (Peacock).
