The 2026 Major League Baseball season is underway, and five former Hoosiers are with big league clubs at the open.
Kyle Schwarber – Philadelphia
The greatest slugger in IU baseball history is in year 12 of his MLB career. Schwarber is up 341 home runs for his career after going long in the season opener. The 33-year-old is coming off the best season of his career. Schwarber hit .240 with 56 home runs and 132 RBIs in 2025. If he can put together a few more productive years, Schwarber has a chance to reach the MLB Hall of Fame.
Tim Herrin – Cleveland
Herrin is entering his fourth season in the MLB, all with Cleveland. 29, the lefty relief pitcher is 11-6 with a 3.57 ERA on his career in 152 appearances. He has 145 strikeouts and 67 walks in 136 innings pitched.
Kyle Hart – San Diego
Last season Hart made his first appearance in the majors since 2020. The 33-year-old starter went 3-3 with a 5.86 ERA last season in 20 games with six starts. In 43 innings he had 37 strikeouts and 13 walks. Hart’s only other MLB work was four games in 2020 with Boston.
Craig Yoho – Milwaukee
Yoho made his MLB debut in 2025.
In eight games as a reliever he had a 7.27 ERA in 8.2 innings. Yoho had seven strikeouts and nine walks.
The 26-year-old Yoho opened this season on the 15-day injury list.
McCade Brown – Colorado
Brown also made his MLB debut in 2025.
25, Brown started seven games for the Rockies last season and went 0-5 with a 7.36 ERA. He had 23 strikeouts and 17 walks over 25.2 innings.
Brown opened the season on the 15-day injury list.
Five other former Hoosiers saw MLB action in 2025: Jack Perkins (A’s), Andrew Saalfrank (Diamondbacks), Matt Gorski (Pirates), Tanner Gordon (Rockies), and Scott Effross (Yankees).
