It was a night of disappointment for Indiana, but the show will go on in the National Invitational Tournament.

The Hoosiers will host St. Francis (PA) in the NIT on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern in Bloomington.

As part of the first four teams out of the NCAA Tournament, Indiana received a No. 1 seed in the NIT.

No. 8 seed St. Francis (18-14) plays in the Northeast Conference.  The Red Flash finished in a tie for first place in league play with a 12-6 mark.  They are ranked No. 261 according to KenPom.

As the No. 1 seed, Indiana would host each of the first three rounds as long as they keep advancing.  The final two rounds are at Madison Square Garden in New York.

A potential rematch with Arkansas looms in the second round.

IU released the following statement including a comment from head coach Archie Miller:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men’s basketball team (17-15) will host the Saint Francis  (Pa.) Red Flash (18-14), a member of the Northeast Conference, in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. on ESPN. This will be first-ever meeting between the two programs.

“First, it is an honor to earn an invitation to post season play of any kind and our program will treat it as such, said IU Coach Archie Miller.  “We look forward to the opportunity to be a #1 seed in the NIT and our goal is to win and take advantage of the experiences we can gain as a team.”

Tickets for Tuesday’s game are $20 and are available at IUHoosiers.com. All seating in the main and balcony levels will be general admission.

Parking will be free for all NIT rounds played in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Fans are encouraged to park in lots 4, 8, 9, 10, or 12. Click here for more parking information.

Indiana is the No. 1 seed in their portion of the bracket while Saint Francis is the No. 8 seed. The winner will face either No. 4 seed Providence or No. 5 seed Arkansas in the second round. Other teams in the Hoosiers’ region include No. 2 seed Clemson, No. 3 seed Furman, No. 6 seed Wichita State and No. 7 seed Wright State.

The second round will be played between March 21-25 and the quarterfinals would take place March 26 or 27. Should Indiana advance to those games, they would be played in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

The semifinals and finals will take place April 2 and 4, respectively, in Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Indiana will be making its sixth appearance in the NIT, having appeared in 1972, 1979, 1985, 2005 and 2017. IU won the event in 1979 and finished runner-up in 1985.
