The pace of offers in the Indiana University basketball recruiting class of 2020 is starting to accelerate.  The latest prospect in the class to receive an offer from the Hoosiers is Nimari Burnett.  The California-based four-star shooting guard announced the offer via Twitter on Friday evening:

The 6-foot-3 Burnett has been a rising star over the spring and summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.  Playing a year up, Burnett’s progression culminated in his being named to the Peach Jam All-Underclassmen team.

D1circuit.com had this to say about Burnett in connection with the announcement of his Peach Jam honors:

“Nimari Burnett was electric during Team WhyNot’s championship game run, helping the Los Angeles-based program to a runner-up finish in their debut EYBL season. Burnett displayed the ability to impact the game in numerous different fashions, and proved effective at creating his own shot off the dribble. We only had the chance to see Burnett in the EYBL for half of the regular season, and he has a chance to make waves if he returns in 2019,”

Playing on the Nike EYBL for California based Team Why Not, Burnett has averaged 14.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game across all games.

Burnett left Morgan Park High in Chicago after his freshman year to transfer to Prolific Prep Academy of Napa in California.  Because of his Midwest roots, he has garnered interest from programs in the central part of the country.  He holds offers from DePaul, Illinois and Marquette, and recently took an unofficial visit to Ohio State according to 247Sports.

He has seen an uptick in interest across the board, and also holds offers from USC, California and Fresno State.

A natural scorer, Burnett can get points both from the perimeter and attacking the rim.  The video below brings to mind a young Dwyane Wade.

Burnett attends school at Napa Christian Campus of Education.
