Indiana freshman guard Aleksa Ristic has arrived in Bloomington from Serbia.
The 6-foot-4 Ristic posted photos in Bloomington from the IU locker room on his Instagram page.
Ristic will join the team when they depart for Puerto Rico early next week. He obviously will not have had an opportunity to participate in a meaningful amount of practices with the team.
He joins the team after playing in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket. Over the seven games in that event, he averaged 11.3 points and 6.3 assists. Ristic played with KK Dynamic in Serbia this past year and averaged 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 38.6 percent from 3-point range.
Ristic arrives in Bloomington ready to work to earn minutes as a freshman.
“I would like to play as much as I can (this coming year),” Ristic told The Daily Hoosier last month. “I would like to fit in the team as best as I can. But we will see what coach gives me. I’m going to work hard, I’m going to work on myself, get to know the team, build some chemistry with them, and just improve as time goes by. And then we’ll see.”
Ristic’s FIBA U20 Eurobasket highlight reel is below.
Indiana begins action in Puerto Rico on Aug. 6.
