Indiana Football: National Signing Day Live Tracker

February 6th is college football’s traditional National Signing Day.  Indiana football is looking to add up to four players today as it rounds out a 2019 recruiting class that may end up ranked in the top 40 nationally.

Check back throughout the day and evening for updates.

    WEAVER FORMALLY SIGNS

Pennsylvania offensive lineman Tim Weaver had announced his commitment to IU over the weekend.  The program formally announced his signing this morning.

Weaver is a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite.

    Coach Allen on Weaver:
“We are really excited to have Tim join our family. He brings tremendous length and athleticism to a position that we needed to restock. We look forward to his future successes at IU.”

You can view his highlights on Hudl here.

    SANGUINETTI SIGNS WITH THE HOOSIERS

At one time safety Josh Sanguinetti was a top 50 recruit nationally, with a final eight that was a who’s who of college football blue bloods including Michigan, Florida and Oklahoma.

    Now he’s a Hoosier.

At 6-foot-2 and athletic, Sanguinetti will have the opportunity to develop into a great back end protector as he works his way up an experienced depth chart at safety.

    Coach Allen on Sanguinetti:
“Josh is a very, very versatile talent who made plays at wide receiver, defensive back and on special teams. He played high level high school football and he is going to come in here and make us a better football team.”

INDIANA CLOSES OUT THE 2019 CLASS

The IU football program issued a release on their 2019 class here, indicating that they do not expect any further commits.

In total IU has signed 22 players, leaving three openings that could be addressed via the graduate transfer route or carried over to next year.

With that of course we will stop our live tracking for the day.

Stay tuned for comments from Coach Allen later in the day.

Here are a few of the targets that went elsewhere in case you are interested:

TJ JONES SIGNS WITH PENN STATE

Florida wide receiver TJ Jones was seemingly IU’s last hope at landing another wide receiver in the 2019 class.  Instead, as widely expected, he chose Penn State.

    KRISTIAN WILLIAMS SIGNS WITH OREGON

Not a surprise here, but still disappointing.  Williams had decommitted from Minnesota earlier in the week and Indiana was a perceived finalist along with the Ducks.

LATRELL JEAN SIGNS WITH FLORIDA ATLANTIC

This one is a bit of a surprise as the thinking was that IU would pick up either Williams or Jean.  Instead, the Hoosiers strike out on their top two remaining defensive line targets, perhaps the position of biggest need within this program right now.

CECIL POWELL SIGNS WITH NC STATE

This one seemed like a foregone conclusion with Powell spurning an official visit to Oregon to take another in-home visit with the Wolfpack.

    KAMAAR BELL CHOOSES AUBURN

Not a surprise here as the final two were thought to be Auburn and Florida State.
