Former IU football linebacker Aaron Casey was in Indianapolis this week to participate in the NFL Draft Combine.

Casey is looking to join several of his former teammates who carry the distinction of having played in the NFL.

Over the last few years, former Indiana linebackers Tegray Scales, Chris Covington, Micah McFadden, Marcelino McCrary-Ball and Cam Jones have all seen snaps in the league.

Here are Casey’s stats and measurements from the Combine:

    • 40-Yard Dash: 4.75 Seconds
    • 10-Yard Split: 1.59 Seconds
    • Vertical Jump: 30’’
    • Broad Jump: 9’ 9’’
    • Bench Press: 16 Reps

    Casey measured 6-foot-1, 231 pounds, with 32 3/4’’ arms and 9 3/8’’ hands.

NFL Next Gen stats say Casey is ninth among linebackers in production, and 20th in athleticism for a total ranking of 14th.

Casey will likely be chosen in the later rounds or sign as an undrafted free agent.  NFL.com projects Casey will be a backup linebacker and play on special teams at the next level.

Named first team All-Big Ten after the season, Casey was among the nation’s best at the linebacker position with 109 tackles on the 2023 season, which included a Big Ten-best 20.0 tackles for loss – a total that ranked No. 2 in the FBS at the end of the regular season.

Casey is one of seven former Hoosiers who will participate in Indiana’s pro day in Bloomington on Tuesday.  Here is the full list:

    • Andre Carter
    • DeQuece Carter
    • Aaron Casey
    • Josh Henderson
    • Noah Pierre
    • Christian Turner
    • Sean Wracher

Indiana’s streak of nine straight years with a player being selected in the NFL Draft came to an end in 2023.

The 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to be held in Detroit April 25–27, 2024.
