It will be a top-25 matchup when Indiana hosts Nebraska on Saturday.

The 6-0 Hoosiers moved up two spots in the new coaches poll released on Sunday afternoon.  They’re now No. 18 in the update following week seven games.

Meanwhile, Nebraska (5-1) is now ranked as well.  The Cornhuskers are No. 25 in the new coaches poll.  Both Nebraska and IU were on byes in week seven.

Oregon (2), Penn State (3), Ohio State (5), Illinois (21) and Michigan (22) are the five other teams from the Big Ten ranked in the coaches poll.

Meanwhile, in the AP Top-25 released an hour later, IU moved up two spots to No. 16, while Nebraska remained unranked and effectively No. 27 based on votes.  No. 16 is Indiana’s best ranking in the AP poll since the 2020 season.  Beyond Nebraska, the same Big Ten teams are ranked in AP Top-25.

The rankings only add to the magnitude of Saturday’s Homecoming game (Noon ET, FOX) that will include a sellout crowd and FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show in the South End Zone.  Nebraska travels to Bloomington for the first time since 2016.

Indiana is around a four to five point favorite against Nebraska according to the early lines released on Sunday.

According to the ESPN computers, IU is No. 15 in both the Football Power Index (FPI) and SP+ following week seven.  They were outside of the  top-70 in both models before the season.

FPI gives the Hoosiers a 76.7% chance to beat Nebraska, a team the FPI algorithm ranks No. 42.
