There are six former Indiana basketball players currently with college basketball programs around the country this season.
Take a look at how each of them are performing at their new schools.
Jerome Hunter – Xavier
The start of Hunter’s career at Indiana was slowed with a medical issue, and he’s had another run of bad luck this year.
Over the summer it was announced he was out again after requiring heart surgery. He worked his way back to practice in January, but last week suffered a torn Achilles, ending the 2023-24 season for the Ohio native.
After a strong finish a year ago, Hunter was expected to be one of the key returners for Xavier this season. He plans to return to Xavier for the 2024-25 campaign, which will be the seventh he has prepared for and fifth he’ll participate in.
Logan Duncomb – Xavier
Duncomb announced in October he decided to step away from the game of basketball for health reasons.
The Cincinnati product had sinus surgery a year ago while at Indiana.
Khristian Lander – Western Kentucky
Now in his fourth season of college basketball and second at Western Kentucky, Lander is averaging a career-high 10.1 points per game in 25.9 minutes per contest.
Lander is shooting 41.3 percent from the field overall, and 36.8 percent from three. He’s adding 2.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.1 turnovers per contest.
The Evansville product’s five highest scoring games of his career have come this season, including a 22-point career best effort. He has started nine of the 16 games he has appeared in.
WKU is 17-7 this year. Lander will have one year of eligibility remaining after this season.
Tamar Bates – Missouri
Bates has put together a very good individual season on a struggling Missouri (8-16) squad.
The junior guard is posting 14 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He is No. 64 in the nation in percentage of his team’s shots when he’s o the floor, and Bates’ shooting splits pop of the page. Bates has made 52.8 percent of his shots overall, 41.3 percent from three, and 93.2 percent from the free throw line. He’s fourth in the nation in free throw percentage.
Bates has played in all 24 games and started each of the last 17.
Jordan Geronimo – Maryland
The senior forward has started 21 of 23 games for the Terrapins, and he’s playing 24.3 minutes per contest.
Geronimo is averaging 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, all career highs. He’s played nearly twice as many minutes per game this season than his high (12.6) at IU. His 5.8 percent block rate is No. 131 in the nation.
Geronimo is shooting 43.4 percent from the field overall, and 15.8 percent from three (on 38 attempts). He has made a career-best 70.7 percent of his free throws.
Maryland is 13-11 this season.
Nathan Childress – Indiana Wesleyan
Childress had a scholarship to Bellarmine before he chose to walk-on at Indiana for four years.
In his final year of eligibility, he’s showing why he had a full-ride to play basketball.
The 6-foot-6 Childress has started all 24 games for Indiana Wesleyan and is averaging 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
The Zionsville, Ind. native is shooting 54.7 percent overall, and 40 percent from three (on 60 attempts).
Indiana Wesleyan is 21-3 this season.
