Hoosier the Bison, Indiana’s new mascot debuting Aug. 30 is more than just a gameday feature for Indiana Athletics.
Ever searching for more opportunities to bring in cash in the era of sharing revenue with players, IU will monetize the furry bovine.
On a new home page for “Hoosier the Bison,” Indiana has provided a link to book appearances with the mascot at events.
“Hoosier the Bison loves to meet and greet Hoosier Nation! Hoosier the Bison regularly attends all types of events including weddings, graduation parties, birthday celebrations, bar/bat mitzvahs, charity gatherings, university and corporate events,” it says on the site.
They’ve also introduced a line of apparel featuring the mascot available for purchase at the official team online store.
Wearing the bison on your chest won’t come cheap. Here’s a look at some of the items featured at the store.
Of course some of the revenue generated by these endeavors will help offset the cost to pay the individual who wears the costume, along with the cost of the costume itself, and any other expenses.
