IU basketball one-and-done star Jalen Hood-Schifino will be back in Bloomington in a couple weeks to host a basketball camp. The youth basketball camp for ages 6-16 will be at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center on Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Later that same day IU football will host Ohio State in their 2023 season opener. The Bednarik Award is bestowed upon the nation’s best collegiate defensive player and Indiana football’s redshirt senior Andre Carter is among the preseason candidates for the award. Carter enters his first season in Bloomington after five seasons at Western Michigan that included 47 games played. The defensive lineman produced 132 tackles, which included 28.0 tackles for loss with 12.5 of those sacks. In his career, he has one interception, three pass deflections and five forced fumbles. George McGinnis only played one season at Indiana, but it was memorable.  And Hall of Fame worthy. Upon graduating from Washington High School in Indianapolis, McGinnis had to sit out a season under the NCAA’s rules for freshmen at the time.  He would only play one season at IU, but it might have been the best single season performance in the program’s history. For his 1970-71 sophomore campaign McGinnis averaged 29.9 points and 14.7 rebounds at IU.  He led the Big Ten in both categories.  He also added 2.8 assists per game and helped the Hoosiers to add 10 more wins to…
