The Basketball Tournament (TBT) – the $1 million, winner-take-all summer basketball event broadcast live on FOX Sports – will see the return of Assembly Ball, an Indiana University alumni team. Assembly Ball, alongside All Good Dawgs (Butler Alumni), will serve as co-hosts of the Indianapolis Regional at Hinkle Fieldhouse from July 19-22. Assembly Ball, the second seed in the Indianapolis Regional, is organized by former Hoosier Christian Watford. Indiana cashed in on Iowa’s loss. Just days after he decommitted from the Hawkeyes, class of 2026 quarterback Cash Herrera visited Indiana over the weekend. And now Curt Cignetti has signal-caller for the 2026 class.  On Monday Herrera announced he has flipped his commitment from Iowa to IU. Herrera is a 3-star and the No. 42 QB in the class according to the average of the national recruiting sites. Assembly Ball, the Indiana alumni team hosting The Basketball Tournament’s (TBT) regional alongside All Good Dawgs (Butler alumni) at Hinkle Fieldhouse from July 19–22, announced the roster addition of former Hoosier Miller Kopp. While Indiana ties aren’t mandatory, there’s a heavy IU presence on the team.  Kopp joins Juwan Morgan, Yogi Ferrell, Jordan Hulls, Race Thompson, Al Durham, James Blackmon Jr. and Troy Williams as the first eight roster commitments for Assembly Ball. Did you know there was a “golden age” of Indiana football at the turn of the 20th century? Prior to Curt Cignetti’s inaugural 2024 season, the IU coaches with the four highest winning percentages in the history of the program led the team from 1895 to 1913. A common practice in modern college football is to reach into a successful program and hire an assistant as a new head coach. After visiting Florida State this weekend, IU football 4-star verbal commit Jay Timmons is saying he’s considering the Seminoles. “Indiana and Florida State are really the big two right now,” Timmons told the Florida State 247Sports site. “I want to make a decision in the summer.” Timmons verbally committed to IU in April right after an official visit in Bloomington. Timmons is the son of former Pittsburgh Steeler first round draft choice and Super Bowl champ Lawrence Timmons, who played linebacker at Florida State.  His mother attended the school as well. Former IU baseball pitcher Jack Perkins made his MLB debut on Sunday afternoon, becoming the third former Hoosier to make his first big league appearance in 2025. Pitching for the Oakland A’s, the 6-foot-1 and 25-year-old Perkins was effective in three innings of relief against Cleveland. Perkins pitched the final three frames for Oakland and gave up no runs and one hit while striking out two.  He threw 21 strikes in 30 pitches.  He wasn’t the only former Hoosier to pitch in the game, as Tim Herrin saw action in relief for Cleveland and struck out the only batter he…

Incoming sophomore forward Zania Socka-Nguemen will represent the United States as she was selected to the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team, it was announced on Friday. This will be Socka-Nguemen’s first time representing her country on the international stage, which will take place July 12-20 in Brno, Czechia. The head coach for the team will be Indiana’s Teri Moren. The 6-foot-3 Socka-Ngueman is a former 5-star recruit who transferred to IU from UCLA during the offseason.
