New Palestine, Ind.’s Charlie Spegal is the state of Indiana’s all-time leading rusher.  He produced 10,867 yards in his high school career with 173 touchdowns.  His 173 rushing touchdowns and 175 total touchdowns are also Indiana high school records. Spegal is one of just five players nationally to ever amass 10,000 rushing yards and over 1,000 career points for a high school career. A pair of five-star recruits went head to head over the weekend.  Former IU recruiting target Caleb Love of Christian Brothers College High (Mo.) and 2021 in-state guard Khristian Lander squared off at the Bosse Winter Classic.  Highlights from the game are below. Love’s Christian Brothers squad from St. Louis won the game 78-72 over Lander and Evansville Reitz Lander finished with 26 points, while Love scored 27. Indiana quarterback Peyton Ramsey spoke with the media on Monday about his team’s preparation for the Gator Bowl. IU’s all-time completion percentage leader, Ramsey is 184-of-266 (69.2 percent) throwing this year for 2,227 yards, 13 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. As the Indiana basketball team left Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon, it was difficult to ignore the similarities to this same point in the season last year. Indiana dug an early hole against UCLA, and they could never quite find their way out. Struggling from the field against a stifling Bruin defense, the Hoosiers fell behind 18-4 early in the second quarter.  IU made just 2-of-16 shots from the field in the first quarter, and shot just 23.3 percent for the first half as the Hoosiers struggled with UCLA’s length in the halfcourt. Indiana tried to give it away, but Notre Dame gave it right back. The Hoosiers watched a 17 point second half lead vanish in just over ten minutes, and for the second straight year at The Crossroads Classic, it took heroics from a true freshman to pull out a dramatic win in the final seconds. After leading by as much as 17 in the second half, the Hoosiers suddenly found themselves down five with less than four minutes remaining in the game on Saturday against Notre Dame in Indianapolis.
