Friend of The Daily Hoosier Jim Coyle of Indiana Sports Beat went in depth with new Indiana 2021 commit Khristian Lander and his father Keith on Monday. Lander is the top rated player in the state of Indiana in the class of 2021 and also the top rated point guard in the country among high school juniors.  He announced his verbal commitment to Indiana last week.  Lander is currently evaluating whether he can reclassify into the class of 2020 and join IU for the 2020-21 season. A strong season has led to individual honors for several members of the IU women’s basketball team. Ali Patberg and Grace Berger both received first team All-Big Ten honors, while Mackenzie Holmes made the all freshman team.  Jaelynn Penn and Brenna Wise were both also recognized. When Sampson James committed to Indiana as a member of the class of 2019 he was the Hoosiers’ highest rated recruit of all-time. Now after one season with IU, James appears to be leaving Bloomington. It will all come down to the final week of the regular season. IU couldn’t find a way in a tightly contested and well played battle in Champaign, Ill. on Sunday afternoon, and as a result the Hoosiers now need to win their last two games of the regular season in order to feel comfortable about the NCAA Tournament. The Indiana women’s basketball team has been rewarded for one of its best seasons in program history with a double bye for this week’s Big Ten Basketball Tournament.  IU reached win No. 23 with a regular season finale victory at Michigan on Sunday, tying a record set in the 2017-18 season during the program’s WNIT title run. The No. 22/24 Hoosiers (23-7, 13-5) earned the No. 4 seed at the Big Ten Tournament and will play their first game on Friday at around 2:30 p.m. ET against either Rutgers, Wisconsin or Illinois.  The Scarlet Knights are the No. 5 seed. …

A major factor in the emergence of the Indiana football program is moving on for greener pastures according to multiple reports. Making things sting even worse, it is an IU alum that is abandoning the team. Director of Athletic Performance David Ballou will become the strength coach at Alabama according to multiple reports, and High Performance Coordinator Matt Rhea is going with him according to the reports. Illinois defeated Indiana by a final score of 67-66 on Sunday afternoon at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. The final game stats, three keys and highlights are below.
