As Darian DeVries’ first Indiana basketball roster comes together, the strengths and weaknesses of his developing team are emerging. As of Tuesday afternoon, DeVries and IU had eight players, with a possible ninth depending on how the NCAA handles Luke Goode’s hardship waiver request for a fifth season. Drexel transfer guard Jason Drake has committed to Indiana following a visit to Bloomington this week. A combo guard who can facilitate and knock down threes, he gives the Hoosiers a third primary ball handler option on the roster along with additional scoring punch from beyond the arc. Drake was also expected to visit St. John’s this week but never made it there. The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound product of Oak Park, Mich. played in 33 games for Drexel in 2024-25. Craig Yoho’s dominance in the minors made it inevitable he’d eventually get a shot in Major League Baseball. That opportunity arrived this week for the former IU pitcher. The 25-year-old reliever from Fisher H.S. (Fishers, Ind.) was called up by the Milwaukee Brewers Monday and made his first big league appearance Monday evening at Oracle Park in San Francisco. With the Brewers trailing the Giants 4-2 in the eighth, Yoho got the call to pitch the bottom half of the inning. Indiana has secured a commitment from one of the top running backs and linebackers in the high school class of 2026. Columbus, Ohio product Henry Ohlinger announced his verbal pledge to Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound Ohlinger chose IU over offers from Miami (Fla.), Iowa, Boston College, Rutgers, Virginia, Purdue, Cincinnati, and several others.  Indiana made a strong impression during the 2024 season when Ohlinger visited Bloomington with ESPN’s College GameDay on campus.  There have been multiple visits by Ohlinger to IU since, as well as visits by the IU staff to Columbus. Drexel transfer guard Jason Drake is visiting Indiana on Monday according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-2 and 195-pound product of Oak Park, Mich. played in 33 games for Drexel in 2024-25.  He averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.  He shot 42.8% overall, including 39.6% from three on 101 attempts, and 86.5% from the stripe. In 2023-24, Drake played in 31 games for Butler Community College and started 27 times.  He averaged 9.6 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game and shot 47 percent from the floor and better than 42 percent from behind the arc.…

Indiana’s emerging roster needs a rim-protecting big man, and Darian DeVries has his eyes on Texas Tech transfer Federiko Federiko. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Indiana is involved with the transfer big man, along with Auburn, Ole Miss, Virginia, NC State, Texas A&M, USC, Utah and Wisconsin. Federiko led Tech by shooting 74.3 percent from the field during the season and finished the year averaging 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Money is not holding Indiana back as new coach Darian DeVries rebuilds the roster. CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander is reporting “based on a variety of sources” IU basketball is one of ten programs across the D-I landscape with a player NIL budget of $10 million or more.  That figure includes upcoming revenue sharing from the athletic department, along with cash from collectives like Indiana’s Hoosiers Connect. Indiana is slated to get a visit this week from transfer linebacker Darius Thomas, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported. Thomas spent his first three seasons at Western Kentucky, and in December entered the transfer portal and committed to Louisville.  He has been there this semester and went through spring football with the Cardinals before entering the transfer portal again last week. The 6-foot-2 and 212 pound Thomas is also visiting Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Indiana landed its first spring commit out of the transfer portal on Sunday morning. 6-foot-1 and 260-pound Kent State defensive lineman Stephen Daley announced his commitment to the Hoosiers. In 2025 Daley started all 12 games for the Flashes.  He recorded 51 tackles, tallied 9 tackles for loss for 27 yards, and 4 sacks for 16 yards. Daley has played in 34 games over three seasons.  He has 103 career tackles including 15.5 for loss, six career sacks, four passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and an interception.  99 of his 103 career tackles came in the last…

IU junior outfielder Devin Taylor broke the program’s all-time home record with his 48th career long ball on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. Taylor came into the afternoon in a four-way tie for first place at 47 with Alex Dickerson, Mike Smith and Mike Sabo. The 6-foot-1 and 215-pound Taylor hit a fast ball to centerfield to move into sole possession of the school record.
