Indiana took away the ball from Michigan State three times in the first half in East Lansing on their way to a fast start and a big early lead. When it was all over they took home the Old Brass Spittoon. It looked like IU could be in for a long day when quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. threw an interception on the first drive and left the field with an apparent limp. But as they have done throughout the first half of the 2020 season, Indiana’s defense provided a spark. By halftime, it was a Hoosier inferno on both sides…

What do we have here? Just over a year ago Indiana traveled to East Lansing to face Michigan State as a 14 point underdog. What a difference a year makes. The point spread has reversed by a more than 21 point margin, and the top ten ranked Hoosiers find themselves in a strange place. Could a game in East Lansing be labeled a trap game? Seems impossible. But IU needs to keep its focus against a down-but-dangerous Spartan squad if it wants a Big Ten East showdown against Ohio State next weekend. No. 10 INDIANA (3-0) at MICHIGAN STATE (1-2)…
You didn’t need to hear it from Archie Miller himself to notice the trend. Just look at his recruiting class of 2020. Jordan Geronimo, 3.98 grade point average. Anthony Leal, well north of 4.0. Trey Galloway, a high level student at the rigorous Culver Academies. Khristian Lander? Far enough along academically to just go ahead and skip a year of high school. Their commitments? No countdowns, no events, no fanfare. Just a quick Tweet. It was the same “commitment ceremony” approach used by 2019 commits Trayce Jackson-Davis and Armaan Franklin the year prior. None of it is a coincidence. Everything…

He has one year of eligibility remaining. Matthews entered the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate, meaning that he is immediately eligible once he has earned his diploma and is enrolled at IU. The NCAA is also…
There is no doubt that the front court is a point of emphasis for Indiana’s class of 2022 recruiting class. Focused on a more modern approach, the IU coaching staff seems to have a prototype when it comes to big men. Meet versatile St. Louis, Mo. based forward Tarris Reed. The 6-foot-9 Chaminade High School product can beat you from the block out to the three-point line, but he still knows where to go first to take over games. “I would say my biggest strength is the post and the midrange area,” Reed said on an episode of The Hoosier…
They’ve got it, and he wants it. Tom Allen wants to melt down the Old Brass Spittoon and use it for any tooth fillings that become necessary after celebrations with his players. You doubt it? Watch Allen talk about his self-inflicted dental challenges. https://twitter.com/i/status/1326226858514460676 While Allen may need to round up any spare alloys he can find to help with his mounting dental bills, he didn’t really say that he was going to melt down the Old Brass Spittoon. We promise. But Allen does want to obtain the trophy that has eluded him during his tenure as head coach at…
