One of the top class of 2022 guards in the Midwest was a headliner at the annual Forum Tip-off Classic at Southport High School in Indianapolis over the weekend. Despite post-game reports that he was wearing a walking boot, Indianapolis North Central’s Leland Walker scored 24 points in a 70-54 win over Franklin Central. A final tune-up game may have served a valuable purpose. Indiana’s struggles from the perimeter have been well documented, but several players knocked down shots from long range as the Hoosiers attacked early and often from behind the arc in a 87-52 win over North Alabama. We reported on Friday that Aminu Mohammed would be setting a firm announcement date this weekend. And now the timing is clear. According to a report today by 247Sports national reporter Eric Bossi, Mohammed will announce next Monday. “A commitment date will be December 21st,” Bossi wrote. Indiana has been involved with Mohammed since the summer of 2019, and he visited the IU campus in January. Mohammed’s guardian Shawn Harmon told The Daily Hoosier in October that a January early enrollment is possible. Legendary former IU guards A.J. Guyton and Isiah Thomas got together on the latest episode of House of Hoosier podcast. Host Guyton talked with Thomas about his upbringing, time at IU, and NBA career. Guyton was All-Big Ten in 1998 and 2000, Big Ten Most Valuable Player in 2000 and Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1997.
