In their 2019 meeting Indiana’s defense produced a takeaway on the first play from scrimmage against Rutgers. It took a little longer in 2020, but a flurry of Hoosier interceptions overwhelmed the Scarlet Knights at SHI Stadium. The dominoes are falling fast in the class of 2021. And thus far, they aren’t landing in Bloomington. Last week Illinois based top-35 forward Bryce Hopkins committed to Kentucky.  That one was widely expected. Today was a bit of a stunner.  Sellersburg, Ind. top-50 forward Trey Kaufman has announced that he is headed to West Lafayette.  We’ll wait while you compose yourself. If you haven’t seen or heard a Tom Allen interview this week, you haven’t been paying attention. SportsCenter, CBS Sports, Stadium, multiple radio spots, interviews for print media — and there were several more.  We try to cover what Allen says publicly each week, but honestly, at some point, we last track. A rematch?  Why not. The latest detail of the Indiana 2020-21 basketball schedule emerged on Thursday afternoon. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported on his Twitter page that IU will travel to Florida State in connection with the Big Ten / ACC Challenge. (UPDATE:  Rothstein’s report was confirmed by Indiana on Friday.  The game will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 9.) The late Tom Petty once said the waiting is the hardest part. When it comes to class of 2021 in-state 4-star Trey Kaufman’s college decision, the wait is almost over. The 6-foot-9 Kaufman is set to announce his commitment on on Friday at 6 p.m. ET on WJHI radio in Jeffersonville. Kaufman narrowed his decision to Indiana, Indiana State, North Carolina, Purdue and Virginia last month.
