Watch below as IU basketball legend Bob Knight is inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on May 13, 1991, thirty years ago today. Knight spent the majority of his speech recognizing everyone who makes successful coaching possible. “More than anything else, when a coach is honored, it is a team honor,” Knight said as he accepted his induction. “For all the people of all my teams, most of all the players, I’m very appreciative. This is their award, this is a team award.” Long time friend and fellow Hall of Fame coach Pete Newell introduced Knight. https://youtu.be/pBlvpvBU0MA Video…

Indiana continues to signal that their 2021-22 roster may not be finalized. And post depth continues to be an area of interest for the IU staff. 7-foot, 250 pound center Michael Durr had been planning to transfer from South Florida to Virginia Tech, but Durr tweeted Monday that he decided to reopen his recruitment. 247Sports national recruiting analyst Dushawn London reported on Twitter that Indiana has shown interest in Durr since he reopened his recruitment, along with Penn State, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, DePaul and others. In a story published at 247Sports, Durr told London that while he is…

It will mark the first meeting between the two schools. The Monarchs are the Hoosiers third and final 2025 non-conference opponent. IU previously announced it will host Louisville (Sept. 6) and Indiana State (Sept. 13). “Our program is excited to get another opportunity to prove ourselves on a national stage. I have an enormous amount of respect for Coach Allen and his staff, and we look forward to the challenge we will face…
An IU basketball legend is returning to the college game for the first time since he delivered a national championship in 1987. The University of Arkansas announced on Wednesday former IU great Keith Smart will be joining Eric Musselman’s staff as an assistant coach. Smart has a long history with Musselman both as a player with the Rapid City Thrillers and Florida Beachdogs and as an assistant coach on Musselman’s staff with the Golden State Warriors. Overall, Smart spent nine years playing professional basketball and 22 years coaching in professional basketball, including head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State…
Indiana has secured an official visit from one of the more coveted big men in the class of 2022. Kyle Filipowski’s high school coach Mike Mannix confirmed with The Daily Hoosier on Wednesday that he has an official visit with IU scheduled for mid-June. Josh Verlin of The City of Brotherly Love was the first to report last week that the 4-star top-60 forward was scheduling the visit in Bloomington. With Indiana’s recruitment of the 6-foot-10 Filipowski rapidly accelerating, we took the opportunity to ask Mannix about Filipowski the player and teammate. Mannix is Filipowski’s head coach at Wilbraham &…
Indiana has never had a 5-star recruit on its roster during the rankings era, but that might change this fall. And the man largely responsible for delivering some high end recruits to Indiana in recent weeks would be the reason why if it happens. Stephen Carr came to USC as the nation’s No. 3 running back in the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. A 5-star prospect out of Summit High School in Fontana, California, Carr played for then Trojans’ running backs coach Deland McCullough during his freshman campaign. According to a report by Keely Eure of 247Sports’ USC…
In many ways Khristian Lander has gone from a prized 5-star recruit to the forgotten man at Indiana. Or young man, if you prefer. After reclassifying to move up a year and join the IU program as a 17 year old last summer, Lander encountered the bumpy road that probably should have been easy to predict for someone his age, but that was nevertheless surprising because of the accolades he brought with him from Evansville. The 6-foot-2 Lander appeared in 26 games for Indiana, all off the bench. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.2 assists per game in 10.2 minutes…
Success is expected when it comes to Indiana men’s soccer, and the Hoosiers have not disappointed in 2021. IU has gone nine straight matches without a loss. If they can keep that run going on Monday evening, Indiana will punch their ticket to an NCAA record 21st College Cup. The third-seeded Hoosiers advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament by way of a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against No. 19 Marquette in the third round on Thursday night in Cary, N.C. Next up is another Big East foe in No. 6 Seton Hall. The Pirates won the Big East…
Dayton, Ohio area point guard Gabe Cupps grew accustomed to high profile basketball a few years ago. The class of 2023 prospect was teamed up with Lebron James’ son Bronny and Stew Robinson’s son Amire on the Blue Chips travel team that played in front of large crowds before the group was even in high school. Cupps gained national attention when he famously took on LeBron James in a 3-point shooting contest. That early profile helped Cupps land on the IU radar when Archie Miller was the head coach, and the program has continued to make him an early priority…
