After a dominant start on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, it was difficult to imagine how Michigan State would survive against Indiana. Now it is difficult to imagine how Indiana will survive Selection Sunday. The Hoosiers dropped one they couldn’t afford to lose and put their postseason hopes in serious jeopardy with just four games remaining in the regular season. For weeks the question has been — how can Indiana start faster? Against the Spartans IU figured out the beginning part, but sprung a new leak at the end. Now Indiana will once again try to patch things up and find…

It has been a while since we have seen a Michigan State team with a resume like this in February. The Spartans haven’t finished below .500 in Big Ten play since 1997, but that is where they appear to be headed in 2021 barring a miraculous late-season recovery. Indiana has won three straight over Michigan State, and another win over MSU on Saturday would mark a fourth win in five games as the Hoosiers look to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament. It’s the Hoosiers and Spartans in Bloomington for a Saturday afternoon matinee. GAME DAY ESSENTIALS Michigan State…

When Indiana offered class of 2022 forward Alex Karaban last March, he was fresh off a highly productive sophomore campaign that put him firmly on the radar of several high major programs. With both AAU and school basketball mostly shut down in the Northeast, it was nearly a year before the 6-foot-8, 220 pound Karaban returned to the court for live game action. That finally changed two weeks ago when Karaban and his New Hampton School (New Hampton, N.H.) teammates resumed play in the rugged NEPSAC conference. After testing for COVID-19 each week, the Huskies are playing home and away weekend…
If there was one thing missing from Indiana’s 2020-21 resume, it was a signature win. They got it on Thursday night. The Hoosiers took down No. 11 Michigan in Bloomington, winning their fifth game in a row in the process. The game was tight throughout, with 12 ties and 17 lead changes. Michigan’s largest lead of six points came in the first quarter, while Indiana’s largest lead was the final score, 70-65. IU closed the game on an 11-4 run that included eight Grace Berger free throws. Senior guard Ali Patberg led the Hoosiers with 21 points. Berger added 16…
It all came together down the stretch for Indiana on Wednesday night. During a five minute run in the final eight minutes, Indiana got contributions from almost everyone, ran efficient offense, and locked down Minnesota defensively. For all of their flaws, IU once again showed their resiliance, both coming off a bad loss to Ohio State, and responding to a Minnesota run that had a must win game very much in doubt. In a matter of minutes, the Hoosiers went from the precipice of a season tanking disaster to a strong closing effort that has them close to securing an…
