IU head coach Tom Allen joined Don Fischer on Wednesday night on their Inside IU Football radio show. The pair discussed the 2021 recruiting class that was signed today as well as the current players who received All-Big Ten honors this week. Assistant coaches Nick Sheridan and Brandon Shelby joined Fischer in the latter two segments. Indiana (6-1) now awaits their postseason fate.  The college football playoff and New Year’s Six bowl games will be announced on Sunday. Indiana head coach Tom Allen met with the media on Wednesday to discuss the early signing period and the recruiting class of 2021. IU signed 14 players to a national letter of intent on Wednesday.  Allen talked about several of the players individually and the class as a whole. Allen also discussed his current thinking on filling the defensive coordinator opening. Defense was Indiana’s calling card in 2020, and the Hoosiers have been richly rewarded on that side of the ball. The so-called “Swarm-D” swarmed the All-Big Ten first team with a school record four players.  In total, seven Hoosier defenders received All-Big Ten recognition, also a school record. Indiana wideout Ty Fryfogle joined Dave Revsine on the Big Ten Network on Tuesday. Fryfogle was named the Big Ten’s wide receiver of the year after his breakout 2020 campaign. One of 11 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, Fryfogle leads the team with 687 yards (2nd in the Big Ten, 33rd nationally), seven touchdowns (2nd, T-22nd), 20.2 yards per grab (2nd, 14th) and 98.1 yards per game (4th, 26th), and he is second with 34 receptions (T-11th). The last time Indiana completed a one loss regular season, the Hoosiers played in a prestigious January bowl game against USC. A rematch of that 1968 Rose Bowl may be in the works. Indiana moved up to No. 7 in both the AP media poll and the coaches poll this week. But the College Football Playoff committee apparently cannot be convinced. The Hoosiers moved up just one spot to No. 11 in the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday evening. One of the greatest of all-time speaks. IU football legend Antwaan Randle El joined IU basketball great A.J. Guyton on the House of Hoosier podcast. One of the most dynamic offensive performers in Big Ten history, Randle El came to IU from Riverdale, Illinois and won football letters in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. Indiana has picked up a commitment from graduate transfer guard Parker Stewart.
