Mike Woodson is building his program on a foundation of defense, and there are few better on that end than Wichita State transfer guard Dexter Dennis. The 6-foot-5, 210 pound Dennis entered the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday. He started in 27 of Wichita State’s 28 games and finished second on the team in minutes per game with 31.1. Former IU basketball player Michael Lewis has hired another fellow Hoosier to join his basketball staff. The new head coach at Ball State hired former Indiana guard Jamal Meeks to be an assistant coach, the school announced on Thursday. Meeks joins Ball State after spending the last seven seasons at Monmouth, including five as an assistant coach. While with the Hawks, Meeks played an integral part of the program, assisting in recruiting, scouting and everyday operation of the program. Several prominent Indiana University athletes have landed lucrative name, image and likeness (NIL) deals with local charities according to a release by Hoosiers for Good. Launched in early March, Hoosiers For Good engages IU student athletes who are passionate about using their NIL to amplify the philanthropic work that helps Indiana communities thrive. The aggregate NIL compensation for the first Hoosiers For Good class totals $470,000 according to a release by the organization, funded by the generous donations of supporters. Since he left Ohio State in 2017, Thad Matta had no shortage of opportunities to return as a head coach. After winning the Big Ten regular season crown five times and reaching the Final Four twice, few could match his resume.
