Indiana had just held Cincinnati to a sixth straight first half drive of five plays or less. The Hoosiers were up 14-0 in the second quarter and it could have been much more after they came up empty in the red zone twice. That sixth Bearcat drive ended with a hit on the quarterback, and after the play the officials announced there would be a review for a potential fumble rather than an incomplete pass. Things could only get better for the Hoosiers, who were in complete control four minutes before halftime. But the momentum turned in the blink of…
There is a buzz surrounding this one as Indiana welcomes its highest ranked nonconference foe to Memorial Stadium since it faced USC in 1981. The No. 8 Cincinnati Bearcats will be joining the Big 12 conference at some point in the relatively near future, and they already have the look of a Power Five program under head coach Luke Fickell. UC is a legitimate threat to run the table and end up in the College Football Playoff. Indiana, on the other hand, is looking for a bit of a reset after a season-opening hiccup in Iowa City. A win over…
With players now able to capitalize on their name, image and likeness (NIL), and transfer without having to sit out a year, it is a whole new day in college basketball. The sea changes in the college game line up with a new regime leading the IU basketball program, and it is easy to see how that new staff should be able to pounce on the opportunities in the sport. The main question hanging over new head coach Mike Woodson after he spent 40 years in the NBA was a logical one. Can he recruit? Woodson’s response the first time…

Class of 2023 forward Kaleb Glenn looks like an NFL tight end but excels on the basketball court. His secret weapon for both his physique and high degree of skill on the hardwood may just be an inanimate object sitting in his bedroom — the alarm clock. According to his high school coach, Glenn’s daily routine begins at a time of day when the virtually everyone else in his hometown of Louisville is sound asleep. “The thing with Kaleb is, he gets in the gym every day at 4:45 in the morning,” Louisville Male head coach Tim Haworth said on…

Composure seemed to be in short supply two weeks ago when Indiana made mistake after early mistake in Iowa City. Now the spotlight turns to Bloomington and a second marquee matchup in three games when the No. 8 Cincinnati Bearcats stroll into Memorial Stadium. The noon Eastern game has all the hallmarks of the big stage — top-10 opponent, sold-out stadium, and a national television (ESPN) audience. For Indiana, that week one disaster at Iowa factors into the mix as well, as the Hoosiers need to prove it was an opening day aberration, and they belong in the national conversation.…
