Two Jack Tuttle interceptions proved to be the difference as Indiana lost to Michigan State 20-15 on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. Michigan State returned a first half Tuttle pass 30 yards for a score, and it needed just 39 yards to score a second half TD after Tuttle’s second interception of the game. It was Tuttle’s first start of the season and third of his career as he filled in for the injured Michael Penix, Jr. “Did some good things, but (he’s) got to protect the football,” head coach Tom Allen said of Tuttle’s performance after the game. “We’ve got…
Indiana returns from the bye with yet another top-10 challenge waiting for them. Just 11 months removed from a shutout win at East Lansing, the Hoosiers enter Saturday’s game against Michigan State as a home underdog. Second year coach Mel Tucker and the Spartans have flipped the script on their program with a combination of in-house development and more than 20 transfers. Meanwhile, Indiana entered the season in the top-20 but has struggled with turnovers early against a very difficult schedule. The Hoosiers will try to design their own turnaround against their fourth top-10 opponent of the season. It’s IU…
The class of 2025 has yet to see the court for a high school basketball game, but already there are signs of some very high-end talent in the state of Indiana. The Indiana staff did something this week they haven’t done in a while — offer a player before he plays his first high school game. And he probably won’t be the last in-state 2025 prospect who earns an IU offer this fall. Fishers, Ind. freshman Jalen Haralson announced on his Twitter page on Thursday that he had received an offer from head coach Mike Woodson, who gave an offer…
Watch as Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker met with the media this week to preview his team’ Saturday showdown at IU. The Spartans are one of the surprise teams of college football, surging out to a 6-0 start after a 2-5 campaign in 2020, Tucker’s first in East Lansing. Indiana has one of the fastest risers in the class of 2023 on campus this weekend. Covington, Ga. based combo guard Jakai Newton is currently taking one of his five junior year official visits in Bloomington. He arrived on Thursday. Newton attends a high school with the same name. Newton High School in Covington is expected to be one of the top teams in Georgia this year as the squad features multiple Division One players. It was during the spring and summer on the AAU circuit when Newton’s recruitment really took off. Playing for the Atlanta Xpress on the Under…
Indiana will need all hands on deck Saturday if it wants to slow a Michigan State offense ranked No. 15 in the country and averaging 37 points per game. The Hoosiers have been dealing with a number of injuries early in the season on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in the secondary. Both starting safeties have missed time as have the top four cornerbacks. The bye week appears to have placed IU in a position to have everyone back for the Spartans with the exception of backup corner Chris Keys, who was lost for the season. All-American cornerback…

Indiana junior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis can’t get through an interview without someone asking him about how the development of his jump shot and right hand are coming along. Those are fair questions, critiques Jackson-Davis has owned-up to, and they were actually part of coach Mike Woodson’s pitch to the 6-foot-9 big man to get him to return for a third season. When Woodson met with Jackson-Davis to try to convince him to stay at IU, it wasn’t to heap praise on the All-American. “I didn’t show him anything from a basketball standpoint that he did well,” Woodson said last week…
If you want to know how Michigan State went from a seemingly lost program to found in a matter of months, look no further than the transfer portal. And no one better illustrates the change the Spartans were able to accomplish than running back Kenneth Walker III. After fielding the nation’s No. 122 rushing offense in 2020 with just 91 yards per game, MSU has flipped the script overnight. Through six games they are No. 21 nationally with 217 yards per contest. “To me the run game makes them go and gives them their identity, for sure,” IU head coach…
