He took an official visit to Indiana Oct. 17-19, and shut down his recruitment shortly thereafter. Karvala will play his senior season in Arizona at Bella Vista Prep in the EYBL Scholastic League. He’s a long athletic wing and a high-level 3-point shooter who should fit well in coach Darian DeVries’ system. As a junior…

With the Fox Big Noon Kickoff crew in town last week ahead of Indiana’s game against UCLA, quarterback Fernando Mendoza sought out some advice. With the Heisman Trophy noise growing with each week, Mendoza reached out to former USC quarterback and 2004 Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart, an analyst on the Fox pregame show. Among other things, Leinart says he told Mendoza to focus on one play, and one game at a time, which was likely music to IU coach Curt Cignetti’s ears. But the very idea his quarterback was even thinking about that outside noise enough to discuss it…
It’s homecoming weekend at Maryland when No. 2 Indiana takes on the Terrapins at SECU Stadium on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS). That typically doesn’t mean much for the visiting team, but this weekend’s game will certainly have special significance for running back Roman Hemby. The senior running back is a Maryland native who spent the first four seasons of his college career playing for coach Mike Locksley and the Terps. He’s not the only Hoosier who started his career in College Park. Defensive end Kellan Wyatt played his first three seasons at for Maryland. Unfortunately for Wyatt, he won’t…
Elon transfer forward Nick Dorn is expected to be a key contributor for Indiana basketball this season. But to this point Dorn has missed all of IU’s exhibition action, live scrimmage and games this summer in Puerto Rico. His debut on the court should be coming very soon. According to a report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Dorn “hopes to be fully cleared for all basketball related activities this week and if so, would be questionable for the opener on November 5th against Alabama A&M, per Darian DeVries.” The Daily Hoosier can confirm Rothstein’s report, via a source. Dorn has…
To the victor goes the spoils? As Penn State attempts to find a replacement for James Franklin, the IU football staff, including many with Pennsylvania ties, have aggressively moved in to attempt to flip some of their high school commits. ESPN says in a report IU is in pursuit of 2026 running back Messiah Mickens and 2026 wide receiver Davion Brown, both former PSU commits. A separate Rivals report also names 2027 linebacker Gabe Jenkins as a main IU target. All of them are 4-star prospects who have recently announced their decommitments from Penn State. Here’s a bit more on…
