Indiana picked up a commitment from class of 2026 wing Vaughn Karvala on Saturday afternoon.  He announced the decision at his school with his family. The 6-foot-6 Karvala is the No. 42 ranked player in the 2026 class. Karvala chose IU over Xavier and California.  He took an official visit to Indiana Oct. 17-19, and shut down his recruitment shortly thereafter. Karvala will play his senior season in Arizona at Bella Vista Prep in the EYBL Scholastic League.  He’s a long athletic wing and a high-level 3-point shooter who should fit well in coach Darian DeVries’ system. Indiana’s injury report for Saturday’s game against Maryland has more to note than normal. Starting left guard Drew Evans is out for the Hoosiers, along with kickoff specialist Brendan Franke. Meanwhile linebacker Aiden Fisher is listed as questionable.  Fisher left last weekend’s game vs. UCLA with a knee injury.  Coach Curt Cignetti said earlier this week Fisher was probable to play this week.  If Fisher were unable to play, Isaiah Jones would fill in. With the Fox Big Noon Kickoff crew in town last week ahead of Indiana’s game against UCLA, quarterback Fernando Mendoza sought out some advice. With the Heisman Trophy noise growing with each week, Mendoza reached out to former USC quarterback and 2004 Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart, an analyst on the Fox pregame show. It’s homecoming weekend at Maryland when No. 2 Indiana takes on the Terrapins at SECU Stadium on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS). Elon transfer forward Nick Dorn is expected to be a key contributor for Indiana basketball this season. But to this point Dorn has missed all of IU’s exhibition action, live scrimmage and games this summer in Puerto Rico. His debut on the court should be coming very soon. According to a report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Dorn “hopes to be fully cleared for all basketball related activities this week and if so, would be questionable for the opener on November 5th against Alabama A&M, per Darian DeVries.” The Daily Hoosier can confirm Rothstein’s report, via a source. As Penn State attempts to find a replacement for James Franklin, the IU football staff, including many with Pennsylvania ties, have aggressively moved in to attempt to flip some of their high school commits. ESPN says in a report IU is in pursuit of 2026 running back Messiah Mickens and 2026 wide receiver Davion Brown, both former PSU commits.  A separate Rivals report also names 2027 linebacker Gabe Jenkins as a main IU target.  All of them are 4-star prospects who have recently announced their decommitments from Penn State. Dan Feeney – Tampa Bay Buccaneers, OL Feeney got his first start of the season in week eight and played 58 snaps in Tampa’s win over New Orleans.  Feeney was the Bucs’ highest-graded run blocker at PFF, but received a poor pass blocking mark after he allowed a couple pressures.  He played five special teams snaps as well.
