IU coach Curt Cignetti’s emphasis on production over potential has the Hoosiers in reload mode as they aim to do it again in 2026. Multiple national outlets project Indiana has a top-10 national transfer portal class ahead of the 2026 season. Indiana’s defensive line got a major boost on Saturday when Tyrique Tucker announced he was returning to the Hoosiers for his final year of eligibility. The 6-foot and 302-pound Tucker earned third-team All-America by the Associated Press in 2025, and was tabbed first-team All-Big Ten by the conference media and coach panels. After playing in a reserve role in 2024, Tucker started all 16 games for the national champs in 2025. All-American left tackle Carter Smith announced Friday evening he is returning to school for his fifth and final year of eligibility. “Sorry to keep you waiting Hoosiers, I’m not going anywhere!  Year 5 let’s run it back!” Smith wrote on his X page. Indiana has found its preferred replacement for outgoing strength coach Derek Owings. Curt Cignetti is working on a deal to hire Colorado State head strength coach Tyson Brown, a source confirms to TDH. Brown had just arrived at Colorado State in December when he followed head coach Jim Mora there from UConn. He arrived at CSU as senior associate head coach and director of football strength and conditioning after holding the same role under Mora at UConn.
