Indiana basketball assistant coach Yasir Rosemond was mic’d up during practices and a recent internal scrimmage. Head coach Mike Woodson hired Rosemond in April. He has played a key role in the successful recruitments of Kaleb Banks and Jakai Newton. Prior to Indiana, Rosemond was most recently on a Division One staff in 2019 under then Alabama coach Avery Johnson. Rosemond spent two years on Johnson’s staff, and the Crimson Tide reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2017-18. Prior to that, Rosemond spent three years on staff at Georgia under Mark Fox, helping the 2014-15 team to…

No one is a greater mystery going into this 2021-22 IU basketball season than 23-year-old shooting guard Parker Stewart. He hasn’t played a college basketball game since February, 2020, and just two seasons over the last four, but he was a starter for IU in The Bahamas in August. Stewart is best known as a shooter, but his best season from 3-point range was way back in the 2017-18 campaign, when he played against the top competition he has faced. According to head coach Mike Woodson, Stewart was “probably the best player in the gym” in the early summer before…

With Indiana trailing 10-0 in the second quarter, there was a glimmer of hope in front of 109,890 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. True freshman quarterback Donaven McCulley led a 10-play, 75 yard touchdown drive to pull IU to within 10-7 in the second quarter when walk-on running back Chris Childers plunged in from one-yard out. But Michigan responded immediately with a 4-play, 75 yard drive, highlighted by a 62-yard scamper by Hassan Haskins to give the ten point margin right back to the Wolverines. “That was a crucial part of the game,” linebacker Micah McFadden said. “It’s just…
Legendary former IU basketball coach Bob Knight made an appearance at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday evening in connection with a fan festival sponsored by the Mark Cuban Foundation. Proceeds from the event went to the IU basketball players under the new name, image and likeness rules as well as the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club. The appearance is just the latest of several by Knight at various IU events over the last couple years. Most recently he stopped by for a team practice. https://twitter.com/i/status/1457123858608164869 https://twitter.com/i/status/1457123441392427010 https://twitter.com/i/status/1457123210097463297 The Daily Hoosier –“Where Indiana fans assemble when they’re not at Assembly” Find…
If you ask folks in or around the IU basketball program who the hardest worker on the team is, the answer is fairly consistent. Since departed guard Al Durham perhaps said it best in January. “Anthony (Leal) works his behind off,” Durham said. “He’s one of the hardest workers on the team. When I tell you he works his behind off. I really mean it. When you look up a hard worker, it’s him.” Of course representing the IU program means something altogether different to Leal than anyone else on the team. The Bloomington native has been a fan of…

Watch as Indiana quarterback Donaven McCulley discusses his development over the last few weeks as he has gone from an expectation of redshirting to the starting job. It has been trial by fire for the true freshman McCulley, whose early action has come against a pair of top-10 teams (Michigan State, Ohio State), and his first start came on the road at Maryland. If he starts as expected on Saturday it will be his biggest challenge yet — in front of more than 100,000 at Michigan Stadium. Indiana (2-6, 0-5) and No. 9/10 Michigan (7-1, 4-1) kick at 7:35 p.m.…
