Indiana basketball assistant coach Yasir Rosemond was mic’d up during practices and a recent internal scrimmage. Head coach Mike Woodson hired Rosemond in April.  He has played a key role in the successful recruitments of Kaleb Banks and Jakai Newton.  Prior to Indiana, Rosemond was most recently on a Division One staff in 2019 under then Alabama coach Avery Johnson. No one is a greater mystery going into this 2021-22 IU basketball season than 23-year-old shooting guard Parker Stewart. He hasn’t played a college basketball game since February, 2020, and just two seasons over the last four, but he was a starter for IU in The Bahamas in August. Stewart is best known as a shooter, but his best season from 3-point range was way back in the 2017-18 campaign, when he played against the top competition he has faced. With Indiana trailing 10-0 in the second quarter, there was a glimmer of hope in front of 109,890 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. True freshman quarterback Donaven McCulley led a 10-play, 75 yard touchdown drive to pull IU to within 10-7 in the second quarter when walk-on running back Chris Childers plunged in from one-yard out. Legendary former IU basketball coach Bob Knight made an appearance at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Saturday evening in connection with a fan festival sponsored by the Mark Cuban Foundation. Proceeds from the event went to the IU basketball players under the new name, image and likeness rules as well as the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club. If you ask folks in or around the IU basketball program who the hardest worker on the team is, the answer is fairly consistent. Since departed guard Al Durham perhaps said it best in January. “Anthony (Leal) works his behind off,” Durham said. “He’s one of the hardest workers on the team. When I tell you he works his behind off. I really mean it. Legendary IU radio voice Don Fischer used to call Mike Woodson’s IU games when he was a player.  Now more than 40 years later Woodson will join Fischer as the head coach of the program for the weekly in-season radio show.
