IU basketball class of 2023 point guard target Gabe Cupps is down to three schools he announced on Sunday. Cupps will choose between Indiana, Stanford and Ohio State.  He has taken official visits to all three schools. https://twitter.com/CuppsGabe/status/1454935343912865792?s=20 The 6-foot-2 Cupps has been on the Bloomington campus on multiple occasions. “He is definitely interested in Indiana. He loves the basketball aspect of it for sure,” his father Brook told The Daily Hoosier earlier this month. Cupps plans to make his final decision before the end of the year after watching his finalists play. “Obviously with Indiana you haven’t seen them…

A quick look at the rosters of some of the title contenders in the Big Ten tell a frightening Halloween story. Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson is 7-foot-1, 260 pounds.  Purdue’s Zach Edey is 7-foot-4 and 295 pounds, and he dwarfs their other massive big man, 6-foot-10 and 255 pound Trevion Williams.  Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn is 7-foot, 285 pounds.  They all should figure prominently in the 2021-22 league race. Michigan State doesn’t have a dominant big man, but they’ve got 15 fouls to throw your way in Marcus Bingham (7-foot, 230 pounds), Julius Marble (6-foot-9, 245 pounds), and Mady Sissoko (6-foot-9, 235…

Eight games into the season, Indiana’s quarterback situation isn’t what anyone expected. But down the road, it was widely expected that Donaven McCulley would eventually become the starter.  One day. That day was Saturday at Maryland, and while Indiana lost its fourth straight game and fifth straight in the Big Ten, McCulley wasn’t the reason why.  In fact, he was part of the reason IU had a fighting chance in a 38-35 loss at College Park. “Proud of Don McCulley, on the road, true freshman, gave us a chance,” head coach Tom Allen said.  “Got some awesome experience to play…

No Maryland quarterback had thrown for this many yards since the Terrapins’ ACC Conference days. That was a bad match for Indiana and their true freshman quarterback making his first career start. Taulia Tagovailoa completed 26-of-40 passes for a career high 419 yards and two touchdowns and the IU defense gave up 498 total yards.  It was the second straight week the Hoosiers gave up at least that many yards of offense after they were blitzed 54-7 by Ohio State a week ago. “Really disappointed in our defense,” IU coach Tom Allen said after the game.  “We had some stress…

In a season where it seems like nothing has gone according to plan, Indiana’s constant has been at linebacker. Coming off a 2020 season that saw him earn second and third team All-American honors by two outlets, Micah McFadden was in many ways the poster-boy of the high expectations surrounding IU’s 2021 season. Each week it seemed there was a new preseason watch list with his name on it, including the Bednarik Award, Butkus Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy. Never was his value to this Indiana football team more apparent than when McFadden was ejected during the first half of…
