With several sports about to commence, the Big Ten has finally announced its policy for teams that cannot play a game due to COVID-19. The league announced on Monday morning teams that cannot play a game due to COVID-19 must forfeit the contest and such games will not be rescheduled.  The rule applies to all sports for the 2021-22 athletic year and is similar to the approach being used by other major conferences. “The conference has determined that if one of its member institutions is unable to play a conference contest due to COVID-19, that contest shall be declared a…

The Daily Hoosier is previewing each position group during the final days leading up to the opening kickoff of the 2021 Indiana football season on Sept. 4 against Iowa. Today we take a look at the defensive line. While the back seven generated all of the headlines in 2020, Indiana’s defensive line was much improved.  And while unheralded, the interior group was a strength of the team. We like ESPN staff writer Bill Connelly’s SP+ model because it is a data driven system using logical inputs — and thus unbiased. But biased Indiana fans likely won’t like what is says for the 2021 season.
