The IU football program shared their week one depth chart for the Iowa game. The headline is probably the confirmation of Stephen Carr as the starting running back. It is at least worth noting that like all programs, there could be some level of Indiana not wanting to show their hand for week one. Indiana and Iowa kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. OFFENSE LT – Caleb Jones, Luke Haggard LG – Mike Katic, Tim Weaver C – Zach Carpenter, Charlie O’Connor, Cameron Knight RG – Dylan Powell, Randy Holtz RT – Matthew Bedford, Aidan Rafferty WR -…

The Daily Hoosier is previewing each position group during the final days leading up to the opening kickoff of the 2021 Indiana football season on Sept. 4 against Iowa. Today we take a look at the wide receivers. It is not often a team can say they returned the Big Ten’s receiver of the year, but that is exactly the case as Ty Fryfogle returns for a fifth season in Bloomington. He is joined by several fellow veterans and an impressive freshman class to form what should be one of the strengths of the team for quarterback Michael Penix, Jr.…
Scott Effross became the sixth former IU baseball player to reach the big league on Sunday, and the 33rd Hoosier of all-time. After being called up by the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, Effross came out of the bullpen in the sixth inning on Sunday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the crosstown White Sox. With the Cubs already trailing 10-1, Effross came in with nobody on base and one out. And the Cubs’ long day continued with the Twinsburg, Ohio, native on the hill. Effross got ahead of Leury Garcia 0-2 before eventually hitting him with pitch seven. He…
Indiana class of 2022 commit Dasan McCullough is the highest rated recruit for the Hoosiers in the rankings era. The 6-foot-5, 220 pound four-star is the No. 55 overall player in the senior class according to the 247Sports Composite, and he has looked the part through the first two weeks of his return to Bloomington. Playing for South High School, the son of running backs coach Deland McCullough is playing on both sides of the ball. On Friday against Martinsville he had 6-yard touchdown reception and an 11-yard fumble return. He also had a interception return for a touchdown that…
The Daily Hoosier is previewing each position group during the final days leading up to the opening kickoff of the 2021 Indiana football season on Sept. 4 against Iowa. Today we take a look at the offensive line. Despite significant talent at the skill positions, Indiana’s fortunes could rise or fall with the five guys up front. By now you’ve likely heard the stories — the disruptive offseason leading into the 2020 season caused offensive linemen to be playing out-of-shape and at far less (or more) than optimal weights. The impact on IU’s line was apparent right away, as the…
The Daily Hoosier spent the week in The Bahamas in connection with IU basketball’s foreign tour and had several opportunities to see the team in action. Since nothing was televised and not everything was public, we are going to go player-by-player in jersey number order to share our thoughts on what we saw and what to expect from Indiana’s 2021-22 roster. Let’s just say it — Tamar Bates is special. And there is much more to him than just athleticism or basketball skill — both of which he has in abundance. When it comes to the ten IU players who…

The Daily Hoosier is previewing each position group during the final days leading up to the opening kickoff of the 2021 Indiana football season on Sept. 4 against Iowa. Today we take a look at the linebackers and bulls. For the first time in the Tom Allen era, Indiana has outside linebackers listed on its roster. Indiana tinkered with the bull position in 2020 and appears ready to feature that role this year. In essence the bull is like what IU is calling them — an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. They will be in a standing position on…
Louisville based class of 2023 forward Kaleb Glenn is moving his recruitment along at a good clip. A top-50 four-star prospect in the junior class, Glenn is down to Indiana, Louisville, Texas A&M and Tennessee according to a report by Joe Tipton of On3. Glenn is ranked the No. 41 player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He previously took an unofficial visit to IU in June. The 6-foot-7 Glenn attends Louisville Male High School where he averaged 20.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game while shooting 71% from the field as a sophomore. He plays for…
He’s been too heavy and too light. There have been injury rehabilitations and an off the field issue. Some have said he wasn’t a good enough blocker, and there have at times been drops. Reading that you might suspect we are talking about a hyped recruit who never reached his potential. But no, Peyton Hendershot ranks second on Indiana’s tight ends career list with 10 touchdowns, and he sits third with 90 receptions and 936 yards. Despite his accomplishments to date, there is a renewed level of confidence emanating from Hendershot and his position coach Kevin Wright. And that is…
