The process of narrowing the roster back down to 85 scholarship players continued on Monday after three now former IU football wide receivers placed their names in the transfer portal. Miles Marshall, Camron Buckley and Jordyn Williams are the latest to announce their intent to look elsewhere for playing time in the 2022 season. In total five IU wideouts have entered the portal since the start of the 2021 season. Today’s trio join Da’Shaun Brown and Jacolby Hewitt as receivers on the opening day roster who have now entered the portal. Marshall, a 6-foot-4 and 212-pound starter from Georgia caught…

It wasn’t why they recruited Xavier Johnson out of the transfer portal, but Indiana knew that he’d add value against whoever they drew in the Big Ten / ACC Challenge this year. The three-year starter at Pitt has seen all of the teams in the ACC extensively, but with the unique challenge that the vaunted Syracuse 2-3 zone presents, Johnson’s experience against the Orange is especially helpful to the Hoosiers. Johnson has played in seven previous meetings against Tuesday evening’s foe, and he has taken an active role in letting his teammates know what to expect. “Xavier has been stepping…

Playing on one of, if not the best team in Georgia, Jakai Newton and the Newton Rams are off to a 4-0 start to the 2021-22 campaign. They are ranked No. 1 in the state’s class 7A. Here are a few quick notes on Newton from his first few contests. Relentless Hoops’ Trent Markwith wrote this about Newton’s performance over the weekend: “Jakai Newton is a pure scorer who’s always in attack mode,” Markwith wrote. “The Indiana commit finished with 17 points & 5 rebounds but his 17 points were all loud buckets that got the crowd on their feet.…
For far too many times to count at this point, Trayce Jackson-Davis has been asked about the development of his perimeter shot. Each time he politely answered that he has been working on it, but first and foremost, he planned to take what the defense gave him. On Saturday night, to the shock of many including the IU staff, what Marshall gave Jackson-Davis was one-on-one post coverage. And even when Marshall started to double the post they were still giving Jackson-Davis openings in the paint, because with his explosive first step and IU spacing the floor well, he doesn’t need…
Indiana faced a good challenge on Saturday evening in Bloomington. Marshall went on a 17-0 run to take a 34-22 lead with 6:00 to go in the first half, but Indiana showed something with a quick and sustained response. IU went on a 13-2 run over 2:50 in the first half, and outscored the Thundering Herd 68-45 the rest of the way after falling in that 12-point first half hole. Let’s take a deeper look at how the Hoosiers finished off Marshall for the 90-79 win with another edition of The Report Card. IU (6-0) will travel to Syracuse on…
No time was wasted when it came to fixing what had become a clearly broken offense. Indiana head football coach Tom Allen announced on Sunday morning that Nick Sheridan will no longer serve as the program’s offensive coordinator. “I want to thank Nick for his work and commitment to our football program,” Allen said. “He is a good football coach and a man of tremendous character, but we are in the need of a reset on the offensive side of the ball. We will begin our search for Nick’s replacement immediately.” In order to make this change and help alleviate…
