Indiana should have sophomore guard Trey Galloway back in approximately three weeks according to head coach Mike Woodson. Galloway suffered a broken left wrist on Nov. 17 when he fell to the floor hard on a play in which he was flagrantly fouled.  He had surgery a couple days later. “He’s making great progress,” Woodson said on Monday evening on his radio show.  “He’s running with the team, and just using his off (non-injured right) hand when we’re doing offensive things.  He’s not in any contact, but when we’re doing drills and things of that nature he’s able to do…

Two more hit the transfer portal on Monday as walk-on running back Davion Ervin-Poindexter and linebacker Ty Wise are looking for opportunities elsewhere in 2022. Ervin-Poindexter carried the ball 44 times for 226 yards and a touchdown and added four catches for 26 yards in a role that expanded as the season progressed as IU dealt with injuries and transfers at the running back position. The Merrillville, Ind. product will likely get a chance to prove himself as an every day starting running back at a Group of Five or FCS program. Indiana took care of business on Sunday with a 32-point win on its home court against Merrimack. Indiana jumped on No. 20 Ohio State in the first half and never looked back. Mackenzie Holmes posted a career high 30 points to lead the No. 10 Hoosiers (8-2, 2-0) to an 86-66 win over the Buckeyes in Columbus.  Holmes topped the 1,000 point mark in her career during the game. IU opened the game up on a 10-0 run behind six points from Holmes. Indiana picked up a commitment from class of 2022 defensive back Jamari Sharpe on Sunday. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from Miami Northwestern H.S. announced his commitment to IU on his Twitter page.  He took an official visit to Indiana last weekend. Sharpe is a 3-star prospect and the No. 71 cornerback nationally according to 247Sports. A high level athlete, he placed sixth at Sunshine State’s 3A state track meet as a junior going 10.69 in the 100-meter dash and was a member of a 4×100 team that captured silver. Indiana picked up a commitment from Florida-based class of 2022 defensive lineman Venson Sneed on Sunday. The Winter Park (Fla.) High defensive lineman took an official visit to Indiana this weekend and announced the news on his Twitter page. “See you in the trenches,” Sneed wrote in his Twitter post. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Sneed was a verbal commit to Tennessee prior to a decommitment in November.  He had 28 tackles including 10 for a loss, three sacks and five hurries during his senior season.  He played on both sides of the ball and also played on the basketball and weightlifting…

Indiana defeated Merrimack by a final score of 81-49 on Sunday afternoon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers led 36-30 at halftime and were led by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 16 points.  Race Thompson added 14 and Jordan Geronimo had 13 and team high 13 rebounds. Indiana added a second running back in as many days as North Carolina transfer Josh Henderson announced he will play in Bloomington in 2022. “100% Committed!  Excited to be a Hoosier!” Henderson wrote in a Twitter post on Sunday afternoon. The 5-foot-11 and 215 pound Henderson appeared in 23 games over three seasons at UNC.  He ran the ball 41 times for 209 yards (5.1 per carry) over his career in Chapel Hill.  Due to the 2020 season not counting against eligibility, he should have two years of eligibility remaining with IU, with a possible third since he only played…
