The IU head coach took questions on the health of point guard Rob Phinisee, depth at the point guard spot, and his thoughts on Maryland. In the span of one week, Rob Phinisee was carried by teammates on the Branch McCracken Court twice. The circumstances could not have been more different, as his teammates hoisted him on their shoulders following a game-winning shot over Purdue, and then he hopped off with assistance from them after a first half leg injury on Wednesday evening. Veteran leader Matt Bjorson will look for more playing time in his final season of college eligibility. The Hinsdale, Ill. product played four seasons at IU and caught 21 passes for 169 yards during his time in Bloomington.  The 6-foot-3 and 241 pounder was also a key contributor on special teams. As a senior in 2021 he post career highs with eight receptions and 69 yards while playing in all 12 games. Indiana has A.J. Listen as A.J. Guyton interviews former IU star player and long-time assistant coach Joby Wright on the House of Hoosier podcast. Wright was an assistant coach at IU from 1981 to 1990 under Bob Knight.  As a player for the Hoosiers from 1969 to 1972, Wright scored 1,272 points in three seasons.  He averaged 17.4 points and 8.8 rebounds playing under both Lou Watson and Knight.  He was a second round NBA draft pick by Seattle and played three years professionally. Indiana made a statement on Wednesday evening with one of its more dominant first halves in recent memory, and that let them cruise to a 74-57 win over Penn State at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Mike Woodson says his theme all season has been next man up. But at point guard, it isn’t clear right now who that next man is. Back-up point guard Rob Phinisee suffered a first half lower leg injury against Penn State on Wednesday and had to be helped off the court. Indiana defeated Penn State by a final score of 74-57 on Wednesday evening at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind.
