Newton High School in Covington is expected to be one of the top teams in Georgia this year as the squad features multiple Division One players. Indiana will need all hands on deck Saturday if it wants to slow a Michigan State offense ranked No. 15 in the country and averaging 37 points per game. The Hoosiers have been dealing with a number of injuries early in the season on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in the secondary. Both starting safeties have missed time as have the top four cornerbacks. The bye week appears to have placed IU in a position to have everyone back for the Spartans with the exception of backup corner Chris Keys, who was lost for the season. All-American cornerback…

Indiana junior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis can’t get through an interview without someone asking him about how the development of his jump shot and right hand are coming along. Those are fair questions, critiques Jackson-Davis has owned-up to, and they were actually part of coach Mike Woodson’s pitch to the 6-foot-9 big man to get him to return for a third season. When Woodson met with Jackson-Davis to try to convince him to stay at IU, it wasn’t to heap praise on the All-American. “I didn’t show him anything from a basketball standpoint that he did well,” Woodson said last week…
If you want to know how Michigan State went from a seemingly lost program to found in a matter of months, look no further than the transfer portal. And no one better illustrates the change the Spartans were able to accomplish than running back Kenneth Walker III. After fielding the nation’s No. 122 rushing offense in 2020 with just 91 yards per game, MSU has flipped the script overnight. Through six games they are No. 21 nationally with 217 yards per contest. “To me the run game makes them go and gives them their identity, for sure,” IU head coach…

Indiana has offered a scholarship to Maryland-based class of 2024 wing Bryson Tucker. Tucker announced the offer after talking to IU head coach Mike Woodson and assistant coach Kenya Hunter on Tuesday. “After a great conversation with Coach Woodson and Coach Hunter I am honored to have received an offer from Indiana University,” Tucker wrote in an Instagram post. Originally from Bowie, Md., the 6-foot-6 Tucker averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists in his freshman season at Mt. Saint Joseph’s in Baltimore. He was a second-team All-Baltimore Catholic League selection. “He is a sizey and long wing at…
As Indiana awaits an Oct. 31 decision by class of 2022 forward Noah Clowney, the staff has largely moved its recruiting focus to the high school junior class. Back-to-back unconventional springs and summers on the shoe circuits have caused delays and a lack of depth in the rankings for the class of 2023. But that changed today. National recruiting site 247Sports expanded its rankings this week to 150 players, and with that all of the major national outlets now have extended views on the class of 2023. We prefer to look at the 247Sports Composite, which just like it sounds,…
