Indiana captain and All-American linebacker Micah McFadden has decided to forego a fifth year of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft. The 6-foot-2 McFadden was named All-Big Ten three times (2019-2021) and earned multiple All-American honors following the 2020 season. For the 2021 season McFadden had 77 tackles including 15.5 for a loss and 6.5 sacks.  He broke up three passes and both forced and recovered a fumble. Over 42 games the Tampa, Fla. product finished his IU career with 216 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and four interceptions.  He is seventh all-time in program history in…

Indiana sophomore guard Anthony Leal met with the media on Tuesday morning to discuss his role with the team and the Hoosiers’ upcoming game against Wisconsin. A 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Bloomington, Leal is averaging 4.5 points in 9.0 minutes per game this season.  He is shooting 77.8 percent from the field (7-of-9) including 67 percent (4-of-6) from three. Mike Woodson was in Wisconsin the last time it happened. Just 39-years-old at the time, Woodson was in the second season of his first NBA coaching job as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks.  The Bucks, who had a rookie named Ray Allen, were between home games on January 25, 1998 when Indiana, led by Woodson’s former coach Bob Knight, strolled into the Kohl Center and cruised to a 69-59 win. Indiana will have the foundation of its defensive secondary back for the 2022 season. Just two days after All-American cornerback Tiawan Mullen announced his plan to return to IU, starting safety Devon Matthews and cornerback Jaylin Williams also announced they will be back in 2022, both via their respective social media accounts. Matthews has appeared in 40 of 45 career games since arriving on campus, including 26 straight between 2018-21. Indiana lost its second quarterback in as many days. According to multiple reports, including first by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Indiana is set to hire former UMass head coach Walt Bell as its next offensive coordinator. The 37-year-old Bell will be Tom Allen’s fourth offensive coordinator in six seasons, following Mike DeBord, Kalen DeBoer and Nick Sheridan.  Allen and Bell both served as coordinators at different times under former Florida State and South Florida head coach Willie Taggart. IU football head coach Tom Allen appears to be going with a veteran play caller as his next offensive coordinator. According to a report by Adam Rittenberg of ESPN, Indiana will hire former UMass head coach and long time offensive coordinator Walt Bell to replace Nick Sheridan. “Sources:  Indiana is set to hire Walt Bell as offensive coordinator,” Rittenberg wrote on Twitter.  “Former OC at Maryland, Florida State and Arkansas State had been UMass head coach the past three seasons. Four year Indiana quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. is in the transfer portal after a roller coaster career in Bloomington. Penix confirmed the news in a Monday Instagram post. “I’ve officially decided to enter the transfer portal,” he wrote.  “I feel blessed to have been able to represent Indiana University.  I appreciate the opportunity that was afforded to me by Coach Allen and I’m grateful for his belief in me. “Working with Coach Sheridan day in and day out has been a blessing and I’m thankful for the entire coaching staff.” Penix has had each of his four seasons at IU…
